They really don't like snow, do they!

Refuse to touch it and try to fly to the nearest bush!

Daft birds!

Have just watched mine hop from the ramp to their house onto the low perch in their run. Edge gingerly and precariously along perch. Grab a beakful of pellets. Then reverse process to other end of run, in order to huddle under hut.

There's only about 1cm of snow in there for goodness sake!

I feel a bit sorry for them and maybe I should move their food along to the other end, but part of me thinks it's better to keep it at the far end so they have to move about a bit.

How cold does it have to get before you actually worry about them?!

Apparently you can put vaseline on combs to stop frostbite.

In some birds they cut the combs off for show standard. Saw some Modern Game Fowl this morning like that.

As long as they have water and food and a shelter they should be ok. Mine are laying well and we've several inches of snow.

We have a plastic cover over our eglu run. We opened the door to allow free ranging today, but the chooks took one look at the snow and went back into their run.

Ours do not like snow at all! They are still laying though!

One of ours ventured out today when DD2 wanted a cuddle. Trouble is, once she'd had enough, she flapped off to a bit of ground with no snow on it. Pecked about happily for a bit then realised she'd have to walk on the snow to get back into her run.

Never have I heard such a disgruntled clucking! I had to go out and carry her over the snow because she and her friend were going bananas at being separated by all that nasty white stuff LOL!

Mine are generally ok, even with their white snow pantaloons. The baybees are a bit diddy yet and keep forgetting that they've wandered to the other side of the garden - then they get upset that they've got to go back across the snow. The baybees have got a snugglesafe in their eglu with them tonight.
