Chicken keepers

Is this a fair (or pricey) quote for a 6m by 6m fox proof chicken enclosure?

I might just double post this in chat too, since I am not sure how much 'traffic' this topic gets

Not sure really. Sounds quite expensive. I have an omlet cube which I really like and their walk in run is great too. We have it on a flagged floor and put wood chip on which I get from the local tree surgeon and switch out for new every 6 months.

Hmm, I wondered if it might be on the pricier side too. I also have an omelet too with a short run at the moment

You could make it yourself very easily for under £300. We bought 4x4 for the uprights, galvanised steel (often available on FB dirt cheap) to dig in around the sides, then a couple of rolls of 14G galvanised steel mesh (not chicken wire - this is thick square mesh). Then some 2×2 to make the door and run some bearers over the top for chicken wire.

Ours has lasted 8 years so far.

Yes that is better value longtompot

Unfortunately we lack any practical skills Lougle

It might even be worth hiring someone in to build what @Lougle suggests.

We have a similar size, dug a trench filled with cement and hardcore wire mesh, which we then attach the standing chicken wire to. It probably doesn't look as 'pretty' or standard as the bought ones, but has stood the test of time.

Most gardeners/landscapers/handymen could do it in less than a day

I've got an Omlet walk in run, and I don't think it has aged particularly well. I love the Eglus, but I think the runs are on the pricey/small side. I'd get another quote.
