Hens stopped laying

I have 2 hens, both have stopped laying for several months. They are 4 years old.

Both were laying every day, until about October. Stoped overnight, literally.

Very occasional, I see an egg, without a shell or soft shell.

They are free range. I give oyster shell, mixed with pellets.

They need sunshine so make sure they get this.
Maybe try some corn & layers pellets in their diet.
Rats etc sometimes eat the eggs so make sure that's not happening.
Aside from that it could be that they're retired- what sort of hens are they?

Thanks for your reply. I feed them layers pellets, no corn though. Other than corn on the cob as treats! I could give corn a go.

They had previously laid everyday, even in winter. One stopped laying, shortly followed by the other.

Possibly retired now. Although I thought this would happen more gradually.

I’m not sure what breed they are! Here’s a picture!

Give them some poultry tonic, and make sure they are getting lots of dark green veg (or keep your grass longer) and sunshine.

As they get older they do tend to be more sensitive to the daylight hours, so let them out as early as possible.

Our geriatic hen is 8 and has laid every day this week after nearly a year off

Ok thanks, i will get some tonic.

Their coop, is shady where nesting boxes are and sunshine in the run. Even when not out, they still get sunshine.

One is spending most of her time, in the nesting box, instead of the run, when not out. Do you think she may be broody?

I’m not bothered about eggs, just worried they might be unhappy and that’s why laying has stopped.

She could be broody and go downhill if she doesn't eat enough.
Have they been wormed?
Generally healthy hens keep laying but less frequently as they age.
