Is my chicken sick? :(

I'm new to chickens so please bare with me,p.

I have 4 Black Rhodes in a Eglu, they've got on fine since we got them 4 weeks ago, they've all been eating/drinking/free ranging quite happily.

For the last few days we've started getting a full 4 eggs a day.

Yesterday evening one of the girls wouldn't go back in, usually they all go in together as soon as it starts to get a bit darker, this one didn't, she roamed the garden and sounded like she was crying Shock she was making a low, sad, noise.

I picked her up (which she allowed no problem) and put her in with her coop mates and shut them up for the night.

She's not come out the nest today except briefly. The others are all out but she's not been tempted by mealworms or anything.

I tried to see if she was ok and she's alive and bright eyed but she puffs up her feathers and squawks at me if I try and touch her, I tried to gently pick her up and she pecked at me.. But in a different way from the normal nibbling type pecks they do.

Is she sick? I don't know if I should move her or try and feed her or what, do I take her to a vet or similar?

I don't know I of there's been any eggs today because she's not moved, usually we get 3 in the morning and 1 afternoon.

Very worried chicken mom.

She's broody! Is there somewhere else you can keep her so she can't just sit in the nest box all day? I have a seperate chicken coop that I put my broodys in, I block off the nest box so they're confined to the run for a few days, usually knocks it out of them!

Oh dear, I've got no spare cages or runs. I have lifted her out a couple if times today and seen her eat and drink and I've collected the eggs (although our 4th afternoon egg never arrived)

My sisters lent me a temp cage for her to go into, so I put her in it all the time or just in the day then back to the flock for nighttime?

Yes, broody.
There are other things you can do if you haven't got a spare cage. Wear gardening gloves to move her if she pecks you. Bringing their temperature down is supposed to help so you can try putting an icepack in the nest!

x-posts. I would just do in the day.
They stop laying when they're properly broody, hence one fewer egg.

When I have a broody hen you can bring their temp down with cold water. Breeder advised me to fill bucket with cold water and dunk her bottom in, it helps to cool her down. Just for a few seconds and as the weather is warm today she might appreciate it anyway. They can be fairly stroppy when broody so make sure you hold her tight! Worked with my hen, after a couple attempts of cooling down, over two days, she was back to normal.
Hope this helps.
