Red,featherless patch on back

I have 7 girls & 3 of my ex-batts have developed red, featherless patches on their backs near their tails.I know this is due to squabbling & with it being red(from being pecked)it acts as a beacon saying 'come & peck me more'!!
I have treated all 3 ladies with purple spray, with one being successful & has new feather growth. But the other two are still red & featherless.
Have any of you used chicken saddles with much success??Or can you recommend an alternative treatment, that has been successful for you.
Incidentally, they are all very happy ladies with no other problemsGrin

It might be a mite problem. ours go through periods of this and it then subsides so have never tried the saddle approach.

Do you have a cockerel? This could be a case of him being rather, erm, over-enthusiastic with the fertilisation. In that situation, saddles will help.

As it is appears to be a case of hen-on-hen bullying, then Ukadex - a French anti-pecking spray - is an excellent product.

Thanks,it's definitely not mites.
We don't have a cock,do I'm fairly sure it just basic squabbling made worse by the redness. Will try that spray as purple spray doesnt seem to be working.

anti pek spray works really well, although make sure you wash your hands really well after use it tastes disgusting.
