Not to eat! Just think they are still quite thin (ex bats got them in sept) although otherwise very healthy and great feathers, laying well etc. They currently have layers pellets and kitchen scraps but wondered if mixed corn as well would be a good idea?

They need layers pellets only until after midday when you can feed them sme scraps and mixed corn. Put a tonic like poultry spice in'the feed. If you arer worried about them bring thin then worm them with flubenvet in case they have worms. Laying usually goes downwith worms though.

Laying birds usually have very little meat on them (unless they're dual purpose like the light sussex) and their keel (breastbone) is often quite prominent.

Mine get mixed corn as a scratch feed later in the day.

layers pellets are good but beware leaving lots of food around or you will have rats and this can make the birds anxious and then not eat. some birds are naturally thinner and our ex bats have always been so i wouldnt get unduly worried

I feed mine on cooked frozen sweetcorn and carbohydrates in this weather: porridge made with water, pasta, couscous and rice (mine like salt free curry) Smile

Layers contains protein which is what they need. Corn is like chips - virtually no nutritional value. Catfood is good for getting additional protein into them. They should feel solid when you pick them up, but if they're laying OK I wouldn't be too worried.
