Just being nosey really. I want to know what other people's chooks are called.

My neighbour laughs at me when I open the door and call mine.

I have Daisy, Marjorie and Eileen and 3 more on their way.

Tilly, Bella and Rosie. Layla sadly died in the winter. She had been poorly and the cold weather finished her off.

Tilly and Rosie are little devils - always trying to escape their pen!

nickelbabe · 25/05/2011 10:50

I'm convnced hens in general spend all day pounding the perimeter trying to get out! Grin

the speed at which they exit when you open the door!!

We have Charlotte/Charles (just called Charlie/Charley at the moment...we're not sure yet!) the Silver Laced Wyandotte, Iris (Light Sussex), Margot (Welsummer) and Barbara (Rhode Island Red).

The cats are Sidney, Poppy and Mabel Smile

damesauvignonblanc · 10/06/2011 16:37

We have Mabel (seems a very popular name!) and Gertie. Mabel is looking very hen pecked - anyone have thoughts on whether we should introduce a third lady to change the dynamics?

jettah · 13/06/2011 23:22

Martha, Georgie, Penny, Monkey, Tikka an Korma! Tikka and Korma were originally Twit and Twat but as we have an 8 month old son we figured that may not be good for when he starts school...!

MammKernow · 13/06/2011 23:35

Ours mostly named by 5 yo dd and me:

  • 2 RIR: Rooney (by dd) and Gerrard (sole contribution from dh)
  • 2 Cuckoo Marans: Madame de Bouvary and Jeanne d'Arc (Jeanne has 11 chicks atm! They will not all be named...)
  • 4 hybrids: Poppy, Cheeky, Daisy and Flower.
  • 1 Rhode Rock: The Very Gothic Marilyn Manson.
  • 2 Legbars (unnamed - suggestions?)
  • 1 Legbar cockerel, possibly named Elvis but dd keeps changing her mind Hmm
  • 1 Columbian Blacktail: Charlie the Special Needs chicken (she only has 1 eye).
PurpleHatPipeAndBoots · 13/06/2011 23:49

We have: Korma, Tikka, Chow Mein, Drumstick, Pie, Caesar, Sarnie, Soup, Poo, Gar and Paxo the cockerel. Sadly Dippers, Coronation and Roast are now in poultry heaven.

londonmom · 15/06/2011 08:45

Ruby (darker brown), Daisy (lighter brown), Rosemary, Speckles (spotted feathering), and Mojo the cock.

ajsuffolk · 15/06/2011 20:27

We waited a long time for our little flock so evidently had too much time to consider names, eventually settling (like racing stables or hurricanes) on working alphabetically (with characters from Shakespeare)
The first 3 (ex-batts) Ariel (RIP spring this year) Beatrice, still going strong bur re-named Brownie by grandchild owner, and my special favourite, Cordelia,(fell off her perch after 6 happy months) They were joined by Delilah
(Plymouth cross) and Elizabeth (feisty Sussex star) and then by Fenella Fudge Fairy (Plymouth cross) so all pretensions of smart names are out.
( however, I am holding out for Gertrude for the next!)
Do mad women keep hens or do hens make you mad?

msbuggywinkle · 17/06/2011 18:12

Ours are all hybrids

Gertie
Hickety Pickety
Bluebell (named by DD1!)

loveitwhenyouoooh · 19/06/2011 00:25

Henrick Larsson
Tigger
Freddie
Eggbert

Dont ask me which is which though - the only one I can distinguish is Tigger as she is a lighter colour than the others!

Grockle · 21/06/2011 21:26

My new ex-batts are named Gloria, Chicky and Scruff Smile

QuietTiger · 05/07/2011 08:49

Our Pekin cokerel is called "Elvis". :)

Sn0wGoose · 08/07/2011 12:57

We have Princess Layer (I know, I know - DH's choice!), Bertha, Bridget and Pidgeon (also known as Pidg' the B!tch)

We also had Robotilda, now in chicken-heaven =_=

Sn0wGoose · 08/07/2011 12:59

There's always a bottom-hen in my experience; another hen will just mean someone else getting picked on!

Hebrewlass · 08/07/2011 13:01

Hello, we have Rosie Rapunzul and Barbie . I was thrown out of the name choosing by our 5yr old daughter. We also have 2 Indian runner ducks called Flower and Daisy. I'm excited as I have just ordered some pastel coloured egg boxes and labels ready to start selling eggs outside the house. Smile

marge2 · 11/07/2011 13:04

Big Chill - Nice white eggs
Thaddeus - huge and really , really think,
Princess Layer - goes stupid and broody every year - so badly named.
Sparkle
..and for not much longer... poor Wolverine - see my 'she's a gonner' thread!!
