despite having one wing clipped. The other two stay in fine. Is there anywhere I can get higher netting without costing the earth? A metre high seems to be the standard.

got mine off ebay, cheaper and higher than garden centres, countrywide, diy shops

how high is it, or can you remember the seller? Whatever I put into the search engine I tend to get loads of metre high entries.

thanks

I just get tall canes and thread two 1m strips of netting across them, making cheap 2m high nets :D

CannyCat, how do you make an access door?

Our dutch bantam chickens can fly onto the top of our Pole Barn which is a good 20+ feet off the ground. If you are going to put up higher netting then the top needs to point inwards and there needs not to be anywhere where the chicken can perch mid way over. if they can fly up, land on the top of the fence and then down the other side then they will keep on doing it unless you stop their stopover.

We have ~1 metre high trellis from the garden centre around the run, which we have grown roses up to make it look a little prettier. It was fine for most of the hens we have had, until we bought a couple of young Welsommers' which were incredibly flighty. What we ended up doing is putting some sturdy posts (round, about 2" diameter) posts in along the fence line, and fixing the normal cheap black plastic netting along it above the normal trellis line. It looked a little like 'chicken-catraz' for a while, but the roses have climbed up that as well, and it looks really good now.

I'm liking that idea, trodden

A cheap solution might be some heavy duty 2m high plastic net the other side of the existing wire. If it gets over that a light plastic mesh on the roof of the run.

Ours never seem to bother trying to get over 2m trellis.
