Oh wise denizens of Mumsnet, please help out a complete townie! We are now living in rural Warwickshire and my DD1 goes to our village school. She is in Reception and they've all been v excited as they have an incubator in the classroom with 10 or so eggs nearly ready to hatch. My daughter has just been telling me that she doesn't want to go to school tomorrow as she appears to be afraid of the chicks, notably their eyes (!). I think they've been shown pictures of embryos which have freaked her out a bit. Whilst she is clearly a sensitive little soul and to a certain extent I've told her to suck it up, I actually realise that I don't know what a chick looks like fresh out of the egg. I'm assuming it's not fluffy and yellow right off the bat? She seems to be expecting this so thought might be a good idea to pre-warn her if they don't actually look like that!
This is of course a bizarre request and I do apologise but would be grateful if any of you could let me know what they really do look like right out of the egg? I am somewhat embarrassed at my complete lack of rural knowledge.
Thank you so much!!
