Grin

We already have a load of chickens. But I brought some beautiful, gorgeous drakes home from the farm the other week, as he was going to kill them (surplus to requirements)

They are wonderful but we have 12 other pets and nowhere to put them - I've been trying to build an enclosure but tbh I think it's going to be too crowded here. Plus I've told the letting agents we are 'fostering' them Blush

We are in deepest Kent, if anyone does fancy them...there'a a Khaki Campbell (dark brown), a white Indian Runner and a crossed something or other with Saxony. I absolutely love these guys, but they are currently wrecking the garden as I type and I just feel they could use more space.

Their basic requirements are a plastic paddling pool, a bucket, and a saucepan for their food - plus some space to run about and make a splashy mess all day. This is all they do. Apparently they don't tend to fly much if at all.

They sleep in our spare guinea pig hutch, which I have placed a sheet of vinyl in to make cleaning a cinch.

Please CAT me or post if you are interested and I can CAT you Smile

I don't want anything for them. They are darlings and I'll be sorry to see them go.

Pic on profile in a moment!

I wish we could but like you no proper space for them, they look lovely.

Flighttattendant · 05/09/2010 16:16

Aw, never mind. They can stay as long as they need to, but hope we will find them a new home! Thanks anyway Smile

Bump...I have realised I don't have a clue how else to get rid of them!

What about placing a lonely hearts ad for them in the back of Practical Poultry :o? It's free to advertise there.

OR put an ad on your local gumtree.

I think we're at our pet threshold at present - any more and dh would divorce me not be pleased.

Flighttattendant · 07/09/2010 07:48

oh thanks Salty! I didn't know it was free.

I could put an ad in the local paper too.

Or at Scats.

Freecycle might help as well.

There is a free to a good home section on the urban chickens website too (and yes they have folks there keeping ducks/turkey geese etc Grin )

saltyseadog · 08/09/2010 09:08

Thanks for that dobby. I will need to rehome some chicks soon, so will also be in the process of writing lonely heart ads :o

flight - what about your local poultry club? Loads of the people in mine also keep ducks. Our club website has a classified page that's free for anyone to use (same with the newsletter).

Flighttattendant · 08/09/2010 10:36

Thankyou very much! Well, freecycle has turned up three offers since going on last night, one of the ducks has just been collected by someone with a smallholding, and the other two are probably going to a school farm!

Result. I will be so relieved to be able to stop the cleaning out of paddling pools!!

Brilliant! I can start relaxing about re-homing my boys/ girls (have no idea what they are at present)!

Flighttattendant · 08/09/2010 16:30

Salty, how are they getting on?

OP posts:

They're great thanks flight.

They are living in our summerhouse at present - I still need to order a run to go with my bargain Maggies. I don't think I'll keep any of them as like you I'm feeling a little overrun at present with animals!
