flubenvet - from local feed suppliers or vet or online.

It's what vets recommend :)

saltyseadog · 23/08/2010 16:06

Flubenvet for me too :)

sethstarkaddersmum · 23/08/2010 16:11

Flubenvet, from Amazon.

sorky · 23/08/2010 17:04

Thanks, have ordered some.

How do you know if it's worked?

Flubenvet. You can send the chickens faeces off for a worm count to a lab. However you can normally tell as birds lose condition and sometimes "gape". You should worm as a matter of course every 6 months and can use products like Verm Ex, ACV and Diatom inbetween and as a preventative.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 23/08/2010 19:26

Flubenvet here, too. Stuff like Verm-x is fine unless you actually have a worm problem (mine love the taste Hmm)

Can I ask then?

with layers pellets do you mix it with water to create a kind of mash?

Mine are either the pickiest chickens known to man or I'm doing something wrong Hmm

I changed their feed to Hodson & Dorrell, from Smallholder and they do seem a bit keener on that, but still decidedly sniffy!

The feed got wet today with a sudden downpour and I noticed afterwards they did eat more of it when it was mushy. Is this normal?

Easiest way to do it is to mix with the scratch feed rather than the pellets - they generally prefer corn to pellets.Mine leave pellets too. Smile I buy bulk cheaper layers pellets then add any vits and conditioners etc to the corn.

Add a little bit of cod liver oil first and coat the corn with it then add the Flubenvet (it's a powder). It sticks to the corn and you can then feed it.

sethstarkaddersmum · 23/08/2010 20:03

mine didn't eat their pellets for the first day after I mixed the Flubenvet in then they decided they weren't going to get anything else so they may as well get on with it, and have been scoffing it as normal ever since. (I'm worming them at the moment.)

Joining in as was thinking about this the other day. Have read they shouldn't f/r whilst taking Flubenvet - mine would go mad locked in their run for however long the course is (isn't it 7 days or something). Can I let them f/r as usual?

bramblebooks · 25/08/2010 08:45

I think it's just to make sure they eat enough of the pellets. If you're worried, let them out late morning on e they've filled up.
Some people use the half grape method - dip in a bit of powder daily and give one to each hen for 7 days.
