Agree with waste of money and normal bag is fine. I used my regular large cath kidston bag. Hangs nicely on buggy, spacious and pockets. They also sell specific changing ones but I don't see a vast difference.

Douberry · 30/07/2019 12:45

DH bought me a Cath Kidston changing bag - expensive, too heavy and the buggy straps kept loosening themselves.
Instead we've just used a cute regular Cath Kidston rucksack. The outside laptop section is great for the nappies and wipes, and importantly separated from the food and bottles in the main section!

I have a Babymel Cara and really like it. I don't feel silly using it as a regular bag when I don't have DS with me but it holds huge amounts for a day out.

LittleDoveLove · 30/07/2019 13:32

I've got a Cath Kidston one and it's fantastic, it's waterproof, lots of sections and very robust - essential for all the weight they carry! It also has a built in changing mat that velcros in to its own pocket. I couldn't recommend it enough!

Onco Melody Changing Bag

www.onco.uk/products/onco-melody-changing-bag

It's like a Tardis inside. Lots of pockets and loads of space. And it's a backpack so you can be handsfree and the weight is evenly distributed so it doesn't feel heavy like a shoulder bag does.

mummywingingit · 30/07/2019 14:41

I have the silver cross one. I only got it as it matches the pram and I'm a tad OCD on matching 🙈

It's great in the sense of I like all the individual pockets...I personally like to have separate compartments, but....as mentioned above, the strap is terrible! The medal bit that the strap goes through continuously twists which is very annoying! And I shorten the strap to go over pram handle, but it never stays there!!!

I will upgrade to a back pack one like the amazon ones that have been listed here already. A few friends have them and say they are great, lots of pockets and easier as on your back!!

MmmBlowholes · 30/07/2019 14:45

I wish I had just bought a bog standard messenger bag.

Onlyahalfbottle · 30/07/2019 14:58

Skip Hop Duo, got it reduced in TKMaxx and love it, it clips onto the park and it has just the right number of pockets! I also got a cheap backpack one from amazon that's been brilliant for holidays and days out now DS is 2 and we don't need the pushchair so much. DC2 is due in January and I'm glad we have both.

Onlyahalfbottle · 30/07/2019 14:59

Oh fgs pram not park!

Celebelly · 30/07/2019 15:00

This is ours

Lekebaby Baby Nappy Changing Backpack Bag with Changing Mat, Arrow Print, Grey https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07B7H6L9T/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_G0eqDb76F81XW

They are all much of a muchness, but I'm so glad I didn't spent £££ on a bag as it's honestly brilliant. Two friends have bought one after seeing mine at baby classes. The only bad thing is they're quite popular so I attached a charm thing to mine so I can pick it out from the others!

MsJuniper · 30/07/2019 15:17

I had this amazon one:

Nappy Changing Backpack,Hands-Free Diaper Bag Rucksack w Waterproof Changing Mat, Stroller Hook, Insulated Pockets, Mum Dad Backpack Blue Purple https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072VN3FYR/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_b8eqDbVHAGZHF

Wanted the grey but it was oos so got the blue one and really glad I did. It's had loads of compliments / strangers asking me where they can get one and more importantly it's super practical with plenty of pockets to keep organised so I am never fishing for a nappy/wipes.

I also have one of these for short trips:

Melobaby Deluxe Nappy Wallet and Change Mat (Chevron Grey) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ZXBYSOA/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_yffqDbRYJJGDH

bebeboeuf · 30/07/2019 15:20

I love my tuba and marl rucksack.
It’s been used for over 2 years and still looks as good as new and DH doesn’t mind wearing it

sirmione16 · 30/07/2019 15:37

For a newborn, I bought one from amazon that opens out into a change mat and honestly it was the best thing. Now he's older though I have a mothercare bag can't remember brand but is black with blue lining and around £60 - it looks stylish and has compartments just the right sizes for everything (wiped fit perfectly in one bit, nappies another, side parts for bottles, front for medication/creams...)

riotlady · 30/07/2019 15:48

Another vote for the amazon ones here, I have this one

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B078R441F8/ref=ppx_yo_mob_b_inactive_ship_o0_img?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

The insulated bottle pockets are perfect for keeping a can of Diet Coke cold in the summer xD

I was also very firm that I wanted one that suited my partner and me equally, as I didn’t want it to default to being “mine” when we were all out together

CocoLoco87 · 30/07/2019 16:12

I'd love to find a faux leather tan coloured changing backpack. Considering the babymel robyn, but not sure.

Enidthecat · 30/07/2019 16:54

Lekebaby rucksack from amazon!

Tweetingmagpie · 30/07/2019 17:36

Dappled things I’m glad you’ve found something that works for you but I wouldt seen dead carrying something like that around, try not to look down your nose too much st people who actually care about what they look like Hmm

CalamityJune · 30/07/2019 17:36

I also just used a normal handbag. Got one with with a detachable strap as they have metal hooks on the sides, and got some pram straps off amazon to hang it off the back of the pram.

All you really need to carry is nappies, wipes and a couple of spare sleepsuits in case of a poonami. I bottle fed so I had bottles and a small flask of hot water as well.

DappledThings · 30/07/2019 18:19

Tweetingmagpie That has proper cracked me up. Thank you!

Tweetingmagpie · 30/07/2019 18:48

Well it’s good that what you lack in style you make up for in humour Grin

DappledThings · 30/07/2019 18:56

I'm sure it is! Certainly the concept of ascribing style, or lack thereof, to something as utterly innocuous as a backpack does make me chuckle.

LuckyKitty13 · 30/07/2019 19:18

A standard outdoorsy backpack is all you need - they actually have comfy straps! The changed bag back packs always have rubbish straps

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 30/07/2019 19:32

I used a North Face backpack, it's huge, doesn't look like a wanky big handbag, and was much more versatile than an over the shoulder style. I got it over 4 years ago and I still use it, plus it will last for the next one too.

I obviously also give zero fucks about what I look like, and because when you're covered in baby sick and have a stinking, shitty nappy in your bag, it really doesn't matter what your bag looks like Grin

Elbbob · 30/07/2019 19:48

I second the Mia Tui bags.
Or any backpack with pockets!
