What sort of price should I be paying for a decent change bag?

£20. I am a cautionary tale when it comes to change bags because I have had lots!. My bags;

  1. Cheap Peacocks rucksack (£15 perhaps). Not enough compartments and wasn't waterproof.
2.Pacapod, £110. Seriously, 110 Pounds sterling. Utterly shit, too much bag for too little actual space. 3.BabaBing £45. This was okay but not a lot of space and the change mat on it was really hard to keep clean.
  1. Babymel. £45-50. I got it on a whim when do was born as it was bigger than the Bababing but it was a messenger style that might have been okay but I couldn't hang it on the double buggy and it broke my bag carrying it!
  2. Jeep rucksack. £20, waterproof, carries on back so hands free and comfy, several compartments. I now have 2, a medium and small sized depending on what we're doing.

The gigil changing bag is really good. It is a backpack and has lots of compartments. It costs £44 which i thought was a good price for the quality!

You are best buying a decent rucksack that's has plenty of compartments and a fold up changing mat to go in it.

Proper changing bags are a rip off for what they actually are. The only times I've needed something fancier than a rucksack (e.g a christening, wedding etc) I've taken one of my smart work/laptop bags instead

Do Boots still do the freebie? That was excellent.

My youngest is nearly 7, I may be well out of date.

You don’t need a “changing” bag. Just buy any bag you like and stick something like this in if you must. www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/red-polka-dot-mini-diapering-mat-b1534.html

And get a rucksack! Much easier to be hands free when they start walking.

Do you really need a dedicated changing bag? In my experience the changing mat is often way too small. You could find a ruck sack of the right proportions that you like the look of, and source a nice travelling changing mat.

I just used a rucksack. Son is now 20 and its still in use. Wasn't anything special or expensive (probably under £20), clearly just made of indestructible fabric.

Just get the lightest bag you can find it'll weigh a tonne once filled with all your stuff. I never used the mini changing mats, just throw a muslin down - although don't use the same one for face wiping!
