Where do I stand with finance and repairs after engine failure?

I purchased a 2013 Mercedes on finance 4 months ago. It had 3 months warranty on it. Today I was driving the car kept revving and thick smoke even after the key was removed. Rac came and have said the turbo has gone and has killed the engine. Where do I stand with finance/repair/warranty

From Merc or a dealer? It the warranty has gone I’m going to say I’m afraid that may be a nightmare, it will be you that’s needs to pay for repairs or write the car off did you pay for gap insurance on the finance?

Purchased from where? Mercedes, garage, private? How many miles does it have/did it have when you bought it?

Have the RAC specified that in their report, in writing?

You can usually give it back if it is faulty in the first six months. I have had to do this before, I would ring your finance company for advice as first port of call

It's 13 years old... it does seem unfortunate that it's had a fault a month out of warranty but a 3 month warranty is just that.

Finance on vehicles is usually arranged through a bank or finance company not the dealer. The finance company releases the money to the dealer when you pick up the car and then you pay the finance company. Irrespective of the state of the car. So don't stop paying.

You could ask the dealer to contribute towards repairs but (and I'm not a lawyer) I would say they would be within their rights to refuse.

It was with a car dealers and not Mercedes itself. And no gap insurance

Not sure how far you’ll get TBH. Assuming it’s done average mileage then turbo failure at that age/mileage is not unreasonable or unexpected.
