Skoda kodiaq? Any good?

Hi all I’m looking at a decent reliable 7 seater-suv style as just preferable to a traditional people carrier.
Really like the look of the Skoda kodiaq. Had a look at the dealer & seems a sensible choice. Boot with the seats down is huuuugggeeee. Kids & their bikes getting bigger. The 2 extra seats won’t be an everyday use.
Im full aware that it will be not the most economical on fuel. Not sure whether to go diesel or petrol. Dealership said the mpg isn’t much different between the 2.
Will also be getting a manual as can’t stand driving an auto. Does mean I can’t go for the sport line or VRs but that’s ok.
Like to hear from others who’s had/have one to hear an honest review. Thanks

We are currently renting one on holidays abroad and I like it, but ours is automatic. Don't like the automatic gearbox as it takes long to gear up or down.

Loads of space, huge boot with seats down, quite fast and very fuel efficient. But to be honest, I dont like it as much as my own car at home, Citroën c5x, much faster, so much more power and bigger boot, also more space in back seat.

I've had a dieselm7 seater Kodiaq for about 5 years now. If you're buying new there's been a facelift since then but I think mechanically thery're much the same. Mine is auto and 4x4. I've been very pleased with it. I probably wouldn't get the 4x4 if you don't need it though (we live in the country so it does come in handy) as it's just an added complication and expense if it's not something you actually need.
The boot space was a big attraction for me as I'm often moving bulky stuff - bikes, bulky sports kit, animal feed etc. As well as the space being big it's also one of relativeky few cars in the class where the seats fold completely flat and the sill hright and hatch aperture are good too.
Mine is pretty economical for a car of it's size. I just nipped out and had a look and since my last fill up I have averaged 49.2mpg on a mix of motorway, A roads and small country lanes.
The only issues I have had have been a couple of small electrical niggles but overall I've been very happy. I'll probably go electric when I get my next car so am looking at the Enyaq but were I to buy another ICE car I would get another Kodiaq without hesitation.

I thought you were on about a camera 😳

Never ever get a manual that size! They will have multiple gears in auto and your value when you want to sell will be compromised if it’s manual as it’s not desirable. Who wants to be changing gear all the time? Unfortunately diesel is much more expensive at the moment but what car says they have a lot more grunt. What Car has a full review on line and they think it’s got very good attributes but a few negatives too. Price is competitive though to make up for short comings. They give it 4/5 stars. Other large cars are more refined but more money.

Theres virtually no people carriers on the market now. The product of a bygone era.

We’ve bought one a few weeks ago. Couple of years old and an auto because I don’t think I can drive a manual anymore with kids in the back crying 😂

It fits 3 car seats on one row and has 7 seats and a really good boot. It’s a reliable brand. VAG engine.

It annoys me that there wasn’t a hybrid option, the turbo/gear box can be really slow off the line. Drives well on the motorway.

Being a Škoda makes it less attractive to thieves which has been an issue for us in the past.

Overall compared to other similar cars it gave us the space we needed and the reliability we wanted at a price we could afford. It’s a very comfortable family car and it hasn’t been too hard to park either.

We’ve also had some electrical niggles with it but none of them impact how the car actually drives. Its user interface system does a lot more than the Toyota we had but is less user friendly than the Ford we had.

We’ve recently got one at work and I love driving it. It’s an automatic, & the petrol version.
