Car forecourt prices

I usually drive about in older cars which do me fine. However I have received a small inheritance that would allow me to purchase a newer car, I’m think a 22-23 plate.
what I was wondering is if for example a car is £15,000 in a car showroom/forecourt what would I likely get that car for? How much would they be prepared to deduct to get a sale. A couple of hundred pounds, a thousand, more?
Any advice would be appreciated

Go for 10% less and negotiate up to 5%

I've not found them very flexible to be honest. I find they're not very generous if you're trading in an old car either.

For a cash sale? Bugger all.

Main dealer? Probably not a lot less. They might throw in an extra years warranty or take off a couple of hundred. If you weren’t on auto trader you’d probably get the same spec car for £12k if you can be bothered with the hassle. I’ve done this before with a private sale and paid for the AA to check it.

Use a site like car wow to check the prices of similar cars. You will have R some evidence then to persuade the seller to drop the price.

Agreed.

Dealers only really make money selling finance; they trade in cars to support the lending business. Your best approach might be to negotiate the price of a car on an expensive finance deal which you are able to pay off immediately without penalties.
