I’m looking for recommendations for a mid size car to accommodate 2 car seats in the rear (1 toddler size and 1 baby size) preferably without compromising fronts seat space, Thank you in advance

Skoda Octavia
Golf Estate

Someone will be along shortly to tell you not to touch VW Group cars with a barge pole, but we’ve had one or both of VW Golf Estate (TDi, TSi Bluemotion ) or Skoda Octavia (TDi, Scout, IV plug in hybrid) for 20 years with no issues at all.

Skoda Karoq is based on the same floor pan as the Golf and Octavia. The higher position might be easier for getting children in and out of car seats.
I have the basic 1 litre version and even it has lots of useful storage cubby holes plus it's very fuel efficient. I drove from Glasgow to Portsmouth via Stonehenge and Salisbury with a fully loaded car and I still had over 1/8 of a tank left.
It is very spacious in the back for 3 adults even with the passenger seat fairly far back so I imagine that car seats would easily fit.
My only negative about the car is that I am too short to scrape ice off the middle of the windscreen.

It would be helpful if you could give us an idea of budget and describe the sort of driving and mileage you're going to be doing in it. Also, do you need space for a double pushchair?

For what it's worth, we had two rear-facing i-size seats in a Dacia Logan and although I wouldn't have wanted anything smaller we never really had to compromise on space. I have 34" legs and had to have the driver's seat in its rearmost position when I was driving, although I'd add the caveat that I have short arms and so keep the seat back fairly upright. The front passenger seat tended to be reclined a little more and couldn't go all the way back like that, but there was still plenty of room.

We have the Logan's replacement, the Jogger, as well and that is a really good practical car, although our two are now in high back boosters.

The Octavia and Karoq mentioned above are a good shout.

Skoda Octavia for ten years. Love it. Will get another.

Thank you for your replies, I forgot to mention it would possibly be an MPV such as a Ford S max??

Another Skoda fan. Had Octavias for 13 years, no problems, good fuel consumption, 50 - 55 mpg. Only major costs were the cam belt changes at around 50,000 miles, but all petrol cars have these. Spacious, big boot, lots of little useful extras, even a umbrella under the passenger seat. The Karoq may be more useful with young children, but definitely take a look.

Oh, our daughter loves Mercedes, on her 3rd, but I find Skoda have better designed and more practical features.
