Hi guys,

I'm seriously considering buying one of these as I need a new car urgently. I went to see one yesterday, and it was great, exactly what I need at the right price. But I have no knowledge of Nissan and what they are like as cars. Does anyone else drive one of these and do you like it, have you had any issues etc ?

Hi there . I actually test drove a juke teckna + plus a couple of weeks ago as i desperately need another car it was a lovely car to look at and a good price but honestly to me it was sooo boring to drive and had no power i kept waiting for it to go up a notch but it never did. A friend sat in the back and said it was very noisy and you could hear alot of road noise.
But you did get a bit of kit for the money as the teckna is a higher end model so if you liked it i would go for it... i did ask my colleague a former qualified car mechanic and he did say that they were well made and were reliable. I just wish it had been more fun to drive !!

I had one , I liked it but the boot space is small.

Belladog1 · 16/09/2025 11:05

I am currently driving a Fiat 500, so the boot space seems ginormous to me!!

Having recently left my partner, I now need to fit two dogs in a car. I also need something that will be safe to drive country lanes. I live and work remotely, and I have over an hours round trip through back lanes. Its rare that I drive on A roads.

When I moved into my house I had to pay for people to go to the dump for me and deliver items instead of collecting as there is zero space in my Fiat. I need to grow up and get an adult car that's safe for me and my dogs.

Hi again
Reading your update have you thought about a ford puma. That is what i am after its just so hard to find one in the colour i want. The puma has a big boot and also seeing as you have dogs etc it had what is called a mega box which is under the boot. Its like a massive plastic sink with a plug in it that if you walk your dogs etc in muddy conditions etc you could keep like dirty boots blankets etc in it or you could wash your dogs in it and then drain water away. It also has 4 driving modes etc for like slippy roads in winter etc and is also higher up for country roads and has all the usual like sensors cameras heated windscreen automatic folding in door mirrors for those narrow country roads!!
(Am i selling it enough for you !!)

Belladog1 · 16/09/2025 11:36

I have been looking at the Ford Puma, but I haven't been to see one / sit in one yet. There is a lady who works next door to me, and she has a new Ford Puma. I was going to be cheeky and ask her if I could have a sit in it. Where I live and work, dealerships are hard to come by!!

Silly things as well, the sat nav display needs to be quite big. I wear glasses for distance, and in my current Fiat the display is tiny so i have to peer over my glasses to look at it - which is totally unsafe. The thought of a larger sat nav display appeals to me. I went to sit in an MG yesterday .... nice car, but small sat nav screen, and it felt a bit more basic and plastic inside.

I will check out the Puma and have a word with the woman next door.

Haha im sure she wont mind !! Just compliment her new car and say oooh im looking for a car similar to yours etc but ive never sat in one etc are they spacious? comfy? and hopefully she will take the hint🤣 ive always drove fords since i past my test decades ago !! Yes some people will say ford arent the best and have a plastically feel to them but to me the amount of stuff you get for your money... i have a fiesta at min 8 years old and over 100k miles and not one issue i have had with any of my fords.. my fiesta has the 8 inch screen for sat nav etc and it feels big enough for me... Also a glasses wearer myself. The titanium model is the entry level in the puma range.
Also hear you regarding not living local to dealerships etc as i am in same boat... my advise would be to search in a specific town etc and see if there are a couple of cars possibly different garages etc and then make a day of it and then if the first one is no good move onto second garage etc etc. Hey ill even help you search if u want as i LOVE looking for cars !

These days Nissans are absolute crap, that’s the Renault influence unfortunately. Avoid.

Readersgonnaread · 16/09/2025 20:21

I have had a Ford Puma since May this year and I absolutely love it! I’ve got the ST Line X version and it has so much stuff it’s unbelievable. The sat nav is a great size so no worries there. A lot of people have them as motability cars so you can often get a great deal on a used one. I went from a Toyota Aygo to this and it did take some getting used to (parking etc) but I am used to it now. Would highly recommend!

The Toyota Yaris Cross beat the Ford Puma reviews and you can't beat Toyota build quality. Buy a used one . I bought an ex demo car and saved ££.

I had a Qashqui (sp?) tekna and loved the mod cons.
However. The suspension was awful, it made so much noise. I’ve never skidded out on bends or roundabouts as much as I did in that car when the road was wet, and I stalled it constantly (start/stop tech which didn’t start again, especially on hills). My mechanic friend said it’s common in these cars apparently. The tyres also cost a LOT of money.

The rest of it was lovely though. The 360° camera made parking and reversing so easy.

It was also very spacious but a size bigger than the juke so probably not that helpful.
I do miss it (for the cameras and front window defrost in winter) but it was also a bit of a pain to drive.

Hi again
Just read that autocar have named the nissan juke the least reliable new car and it made me think of this thread...
Have you got any further in your quest ?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/10/2025 00:22

I think the new Jukes have issues .
I was talking to the Green Flag rescue , he said keep the one I had ( 2016) and don't go for a new model.

I did read that Grapejam and thought "don't let my motor know "!

Haha bless you at least u have the older model... 😉 sometimes older IS better !
As long as your " motor" isnt aware of their younger siblings issues I wont tell them I promise

There are loads of my type of Juke out there . More than once I've tried to open "my" car and not been able to then realised it isn't the key fob playing up but actually my car is in the next row along Blush Blush
Although the newer more angular models are available in a lovely dark teal that I covet (it isn't green , that's unlucky ) but not covetable enough to buy one .

The new Nissan Juke (1.0 DIG-T Tekna DCT) is great for city driving. Watch out for the DCT automatic gearbox—some find it a bit hesitant at low speeds. Also, some owners feel the ride is a little firm. Check the service history and ideally, get a long test drive to be sure! Good luck!
