How necessary is the splash guard on a car?

Long story short, was driving yesterday and the splash guard started to fall off. I got home and my husband couldn’t reattach it due to rusty bolts so he unscrewed the back bolts and took it off altogether. He’s ordered new pins to put it back on but they won’t be here for a few days. He says the car is still fine to drive in the meantime. Would you agree? I genuinely know nothing about cars but I always er on the side of caution and I feel nervous to drive it over the next couple of days.

it’s a Renault Kadjar if that makes any difference

Then why can’t you google whether a splash guard is important?

I was going to ask what a splash guard is as well. No need to be so rude. Maybe you should goo to see if it is necessary or not?

I did google it but you know what the internet is like, I was just looking for peoples genuine opinions

I'm just here to find out what a splash guard is tbh.

Do you mean the under tray? If so it's not vital. It makes your vehicle a tiny bit more efficient at higher speeds and can also reduce noise a tiny amount. But not enough for you to likely notice.

Right then. I googled. I’ve never heard it called that in the UK. I wondered if you meant mud flaps which are pretty unusual now.

It’s likely to be fine for a couple of days.
