Will a self charging hybrid last?

About to buy a Honda self charging hybrid, it’s an expensive purchase for me but thinking it will last me 10 years so overall better than a lease or PCP. Have done the maths and am happy with this. Suddenly worrying though that in 10years the battery might fail and would this be a huge expense or make the car worthless? Or not something to worry about? Thanks!

You're worrying about the value of your car in ten years time?

There are 15 year old hybrids on the road with original batteries and still going strong. I wouldn't worry. Just make sure you don't have a wet belt like some Civics do.

My sister has had her Yaris hybrid on a 65 plate for ten years and it shows no signs of giving up the ghost, she loves the car.

Thanks both. I am a worrier and it’s a big outlay for me!

I know nothing of the Honda quality but I bought a 3yo used 2012 self-charging Toyota hybrid in 2015 and its still running fine.

Honda hybrids have been around since the 1990s.

They are just as reliable and bombproof as Toyota hybrids.

And dont listen to the horseshit about wet belts on the Civic. That only applied to the 1.0 engine on the last (no longer produced, non hybrid model).

Honda's current line up has no wet belt engines on any of its hybrids.

What model are you getting? Jazz/Civic/HR-V/CR-V/ZR-V?

Also, these come as standard with an 8 year battery warranty as well.
