Is it worth getting a MOT and service if I am planning on selling to WBAC?

Hi everyone
Was wanting to buy a new car and sell or part exchange my 11 year old Panda car after its passed (hopefully) it’s MOT and service due in 2 weeks.
Now thinking after having a few online valuations that it probably won’t increase the price of my car so is it worth spending the £300 the MOT and service is likely to cost me. Would add that car passed its MOT last November with no advisories. It’s running really well and in excellent condition.
Thanking you all in advance and hopefully I have explained my dilemma clearly.

No. Ime they asked me to turn engine on and looked at dash to check for engine lights. That was it. Mot prob worth getting.

I work in a garage, it is absolutely not worth getting an MOT and service if you are part exchanging your car. The garage will not give you more money. They would be happy if you have had it done and you part exchange your car, but it won’t be worth more. However, if you want to sell to we buy any car, I think they ask for a minimum of three months MOT.

Thank you for all the posts so far. Seems crazy to be that my car wouldn’t be worth more money with a full year’s MOT and hopefully no advisories again. Doesn’t make much sense. Have already booked car in but guess I will cancel. Only just decided to get a newer bigger car as another grandchild on its way. Haven’t yet decided whether to part exchange or sell to WBAC or similar car selling companies.

Look at it like selling a house, you and your neighbour, live in identical 3 bedroom houses. You neighbour, had a new kitchen and bathroom 2 years ago and her house is worth £200,000. You have just had a new kitchen and bathroom and yet your house is still only worth £200,000. It is only worth what an identical vehicle the same age and mileage is worth. Even with a new MOT. We actually tell people not to worry about getting their car MOT’d if they are part exchanging it, it is only extra expense for the customer for no gain to themselves.

Thank you for your post. Very helpful. It’s just been a very sudden decision to get a newer bigger car now cos I so love my panda as it’s such a small car and has great visibility. I knew i would have to eventually have to get a new car but was putting it off!

This has been useful for me as well, thank you. I’ve paid out for new brake pads on my car that I’m shortly selling, and will get a new MOT but that’s because I’m selling privately. I won’t do anything else to it as uneconomical plus nothing desperately needs fixing.

I sold a car five years ago to WBAC and was told then that it needed a minimum of six months MOT which luckily it did have
