Hello all I was wondering if someone can shed some light on this completely new to CA.

So I have been put down as an irregular earner due to my payslip I had to provide before my claim date was slightly higher due to some company sick pay now it's dropped down I have no idea when I will next be paid etc I did ask but they were really not forthcoming with explaining anything to me.

They also messed up my back pay trying to say I was over the earnings limit on the month I applied which I wasn't and even the advisor was shocked so need to have that sorted out.

Can someone please tell me the ins and outs of being an irregular earner on CA please I am really concerned as I am guessing universal credit will keep deducting the CA amount each month regardless of me being paid by carers or not so I will be sort the carers money until I get paid by them.

Thank you

You should get a prompt to add your income and expenses a few days before payment? Then they work it out from that and pay you.

Have your CA payments started? Are they monthly, weekly? They should continue if so.

I think back payments take a minimum 8 weeks, as a rule.

@OriginalUsername2 thank you for your reply unfortunately I have no idea when I get paid from carers I put weekly down but because they have deemed me as an irregular earner I don't no when I will be paid at all.

According to the one person that understood me she said that they both share a system so UC will see when I get paid carers and when I don't so they won't decided £4£ unless they need to.

Hope that makes sense they are going back through my back pay as they have made an error so we will see if it gets sorted or not.

Not the same scenario but sort of similar outcome I expect, I got paid my salary twice in my assessment period two months ago due to bank holidays moving my payday and received no UC as it looked like my pay was £££ more than it actually is, therefore it looked like I hadn't been paid last month as it was in the previous assessment window. Normally I get £100 UC and instead I got £800 as it looked like I had no income. I received a phone call to review my work situation hadn't changed and I queried the payment (and offered to pay it back) but they said that was just how it worked, it was all linked with HMRC like your CA will be linked so it's all done automatically, no need to worry payment wise. The hours and working the right amount might be an issue though but I don't know about that
