Hi, my son is 29 years old and has cerebral palsy, and severe learning difficulties. He has been living with us since birth and is entirely dependent on us for all his care. He was reviewed by social services Januart 2021, over the phone. SW contacted me in May to say that his supervisor wanted to do Best Interests meeting for a Community Dols. I refused as no else that I know has had one and there have been no changes to his care. This has gone on a while, but I have now received a letter from them to say that they are applying to the Court of Protection (which is normally for a Community Dols) and have advised me to seek legal advise.
SS have not seen my son for a number of years, but as an adult there has not been any change in his care for a number of yeara. I know Dols is put in place for care homes and shared living, but have never heard for one for someone living at home. Has anyone been through this process and can give me any advise?

I don’t understand why you refused to let them do a DOLS assessment? I would have thought that would lead SS to escalate it to the next level.

DD is subject to DOLS. I leave them to it. Actually, I found their feedback very helpful.

How are things now @dridolly?

Go for the DoLS Dolly, the assessor will then be able to refer to the area SW team.
