MRSA

MIL has been in hospital for a few weeks now. She fell and broke two small bones in her back. She has never improved and has times when she does not know where she is. Normally she is as sharp as a tack. Tonight my husband was handed a leaflet on how to avoid catching MRSA. MIL was tested and out of 4 tests 3 showed she has contracted MRSA. She is 81, has diabetes and not a very strong heart. Has anyone any experience of this. Our hospials have a very high rate of contacting MRSA by the way. She is a bit low anyway as her brother who was admitted to hospital on the same day as her died on Saturday.

Yes deste, this happened to my father. It was nightmarish as I was due to have a CS and was cleaning up MRSA poop the day before I gave birth.
Dad becomes quite confused some days and I never know if it is a MRSA flare up or dementia. The health professionals were extremely unhelpful re advice. Demand information about dealing with MRSA at home eg washing clothes separately, cleaning poop, etc.
