Hi, I’m currently a carer for my nan, she is wanting to get a Motability car for her for when she needs shopping needs to be at hospital etc etc, she understands as I have 3 children my self one who has autism that this is pretty hard to do shopping on feet hauling 3 kids around hence why she offered the Motability car and so she doesn’t have to rely on busses taxis etc so I’m currently doing my lessons, but I’m not sure how it works, could I use the car for example the school runs (I’m always at my grans straight after the school run anyways) my sons doctors appointments etc or is it just only when she needs me to use it I looked online and I’m getting mixed signals, by all means I’d use it just for her use but would be helpful for my use too I don’t want to get into any trouble though :/ please no judgement I just want to understand the use of the car correctly thanks :)

It has to benefit the person with a disability . E.g. A spouse could use it for work because that benefits the disabled spouse to have money coming in, to take their dc to school, to do the food shop, to pick up meds etc.
If you were to have an accident they will ask the purpose of your journey.

The car is used by, or for the benefit of, the disabled person. This does not mean that the disabled person needs to be in the car for every journey. In practice, this means other named drivers in the household can use the car for shopping and other routine activities, as long as the disabled customer will benefit

That is on their website just with it saying other routine activities, so say I went shopping for myself but had an accident would that be classed as misuse of the car?
