Can you fit three car seats in a Ford Focus estate?

I have a 2007 model Ford Focus Estate and was hoping it was possible to fit three car seats in the back as we are thinking about a third child.

In theory would it be possible to fit in a 3.5 year old and 2 year old and a newborn?
I have 2x Britax eclipse and (somewhere) a maxi cosi cabrio fix with a base attachment.

If this combination isn't possible (I can't rey it out cos I can't find where I have put the maxi cosi)could anyone tell me what car seats do fit in?

Any advice much appreciated.

hi i have 3 in the back of a vw golf so the rear seat should be about the same size.

i can fit a britax two way elite in the middle, a maxi cosi cabrio at one side and a KISS(klippan isofix safety system) at the other side. i can also change one to a maxi cosi rodi sps(the most narrow hbb on the market apparently). it would have been easier if i could have switched the front airbag off but i couldn't.

are you anywhere near the in car safety centre in milton keynes or belfast? that's where i went and they managed to fit all the seats in! i took a while but we got there in the end.

good luck!

A friend of mine fits 3 in the back of her Focus (4yo, 3yo, 2yo), but the middle one is just on a booster cushion.

Thanks nicm and MrsJohnDeere...was starting to panic slightly as got a BFP today and can't afford a new car! DD will nearly be 4 by the time DC3 arrives so can probably go in a good high back booster thing. I think the problem I am going to have is that the maxi cosi only fits securely whenits on the base somight have to find a narrow stage 0 baby seat.

Best option IMHO would be two DuoLogic, they are not called Klippan Isofix Safety System, since i's the narrowest Rf seat and a narow booster seat such as Britax Adventure.

Congrats on the bfp!

I'll see said friend on Friday so will ask her which seats she actually has. I know they're not Britax, but that's all.

Thanks Adventure dad, unfortunately two Klippan Isofix Safety Systems would be a long way out of our price range, the Britax adventure looks good. Maybe the prices will come down soon as they get more popular?

Thanks MrsJohndeere, that would be useful.

I think I will contact the car safety centre to see if they have advice since they seem to get a good press on the Car talk boards.

Just an update in case anyone is in the same situation..

I went to the brilliant Essex In Car Safety Centre today, where they managed to fit 3 seats in the back of my ford focus:

On the rear driver side: Maxi Cosi Rodi SPS HBB

On the rear passenger side: Britax baby Safe Infant carrier

In the centre: Britax Eclipse SI

So it can be done safely!
