Upgrading car seat advice

My little boy is turning two and is 15kg and 90cm so high up in percentiles.

I’m due another baby next month and rather than buy a iso fix for the new baby to go in the maxi cosy pebble (oldest has it attached to the pearl) we thought it would make sense to upgrade the oldest into one that will last a long time as it won’t be long till he reaches the 17.5kg weight limit of the pearl.

Does anyone have any suggestions on particular chairs that would be suitable? Would ideally like a chair that we then don’t need to change and can become a high back booster etc but don’t know if that’s possible. So many different chairs im a bit overwhelmed by it all!

This is a good idea. The main question to ask is whether your 2yo is rear facing or forward facing and whether you prefer a rear or forward facing seat for him? For both there are options which last to 125cm and 21-36kg depending on which exact seat. For both there are options which convert to high back booster.

Rear facing does offer a big safety benefit so is worth continuing if you get on with it.

I’d like to continue rear facing as long as possible.

Ok. So the only rear facing seat with the higher limit that converts to high back booster is Avionaut Stardust. However with his weight there's a slight downside with this seat in that the weight limit for rear facing is 21kg, which won't last as long as some others. But also, at £349 it's not the cheapest option. The other rear facing seats to 125cm around this price or less are the Axkid minikid seats, Avionaut Sky, and Britax Max Safe or Safe Way. Britax Safeway is often around £200, and it has a 36kg weight limit, leaving you plenty of budget for a high back booster later on, as they are much cheaper anyway.

If you want to compare the different Axkid, Avionaut and Britax models, your best option is usually to look for your nearest Axkid stockist on their website, as Axkid stockists often have other brands too.
