Axkid Mate 2 Isofix Reviews Wanted

We are looking for a booster seat for our 9 year old 139cm child.

They currently have a Cybex M-Fix SL which has been fantastic but we only have a small car in height and it can no longer be extended height wise due to the car roof.

We want to keep them in a booster until 150cm for safety, and saw the Mate 2 but cant really find any reviews online of this booster.

If not this one, does anyone have any other recommendations for a booster seat only suitable up to 150cm.

I don't think you'll find many reviews of a backless booster, they are pretty much all the same, and arguably it doesn't matter which one you get. The main difference between them is whether or not they have isofix connectors. If you do get an isofix one, it can be a good idea to check whether the seatbelt can fasten easily with the isofix attached, so the best thing to do is probably go to any shop which sells car seats and try a few out in the car. You could take your child with you so you can see which they find most comfy as well.

Thank you so much! I was hoping you would respond. I didnt realise they were all much of a muchness and I knew the Axkid has fantastic reviews for other car seats, so thought it must be a good one!

Nope, personally I'd honestly go for a really cheap basic one. I can't see the sense in paying £55 for a booster cushion that you have to order online because nobody stocks it. There are cheap/generic Isofix booster cushions for about £25-30 from various places or for about £15 you can get one without Isofix. Don't overpay unless you find it significantly more comfortable or something. They are extremely simple devices, the design of them hasn't changed at all since the 1980s. That tells you two things. 1, they work. 2, it's mad to go for anything over the most basic one.

They should be regulated because that gives you the required strength on the belt guides but that's the only thing I'd be interested in honestly. (Aside from personal comfort/best fit to car). In fact my eldest used a second hand one we got from a friend for years, and I'd happily do that again, whereas I probably wouldn't use a second hand seat for any other stage.
