Silver cross discover I size issues

Hi all

i have just purchased the silver cross discover I size for my 5 year old after he has outgrown his baby and toddler seats, this chair is for ages 4-12. However, I am concerned as although this seat is isofix the chair will move if I shake it, it doesn’t sit completely flush with the car as my other car seats. should I be concerned ?

also, it’s the first car seat I have had that doesn’t have a buckle built in and you use the car seat belt, presumably as the child is older and you can’t be having older kids with those car seat buckles but I am concerned that that where the seat belt goes across the child’s lap is marked in green on both sides but there is nowhere for the belt to ‘hook in’ it is just place on their lap - other seats I’ve used on holiday before the car seat was designed so the seat belt is hooked in. Consequently the belt at the lap is quite loose. Is this how it’s meant to be as it’s making me uncomfortable.

Any advice appreciated

You should be able to tighten the seat to the isofix arms so that it doesn't move around, though it's OK if the backrest moves relative to the angle of the seat in your car, that's normal.

Some high back boosters have little hooks to hold the lap belt in place but one problem with this is that parents don't always realise to tuck the belt in on both sides which can lead to incorrect fit. So some high back boosters just have an open space here designed to help guide the belt to the right place. As you buckle your child in, pull up on the diagonal part of the belt (or show them how to do this themselves) to tighten it through the belt buckle and ensure the lap belt isn't loose. If it is staying loose, then it's not a good fit possibly as a result of the position of the seatbelt in your car, if that's the case then ideally return it and replace with something where the belt will self-tighten as it's designed to do.
