Anyone with the Joie i Pivot 360? Please help me with inserts!

My LO is coming up to 7 months. We've taken out the newborn headrest insert and the wedge, but still have the body cushion in. Is this the wrong way round? Any videos I look up on YouTube are for different models, and the wedge is the last to come out. But our wedge is smaller than for e.g. the 360 spin, and it's quite a bit narrower than the seat itself. So it doesnt look very safe him just sat on the wedge as theres gaps either side between his body and the seat. I hope that makes sense?
My parents have the 360 spin and if im right, we need to keep the wedge in this until he's much older? But maybe take the body cushion out as he looks a little squashed? Please help, I'm so confused and there's barely any information out there 😩

Hi, I’ve no personal experience with this seat, but I know that the head cushion usually detaches from the main infant insert. I’d imagine you need both the wedge and infant insert for a 7 month old. The wedge is designed to push the body forward and prevent head flop, and is usually the last to be removed. Both the insert and wedge are also designed to keep the straps on the legs and not on the tummy.
Remember that snug is best.

I would send a message to Joie - their manual is really unclear on the i-Pivot insert, and suggests it's a one-piece insert rather than a multi part one. It says you must use it up to 60cm, but beyond this you can use it as long as they fit better with it. So I would assume from that, that you can safely remove it and use without, but the fact it comes apart into pieces makes me not fully sure.

The older Joie 360 Spin has a three part insert and yes, the wedge stays in until last with that seat. You would usually want the body cushion as well at 7mo - but if their arms stick straight out and don't rest comfortably, you can remove the body cushion. It's common for them to look a bit like they are pushed out of the seat by the inserts (which is part of why they made them thinner in the newer versions) - try raising the headrest one click and sort of scooting DC up a bit higher in the seat, it usually helps.

Once they can sit on their own without support you can remove the wedge but if you get head flop without it, put it back in.

Would also just add that the one-piece insert to be used at least up to 60cm would bring the i-Pivot in line with other popular spin seats e.g. the Maxi Cosi Mica, Cybex Sirona and Britax Dualfix.

The insert in the older Joie spin seats is unusual. Most car seats don't have multi part inserts like this and many people find them confusing to use, so while the benefit is that you get a more tailored fit for each stage, it wouldn't be surprising if Joie have opted to swap to the simpler one-piece insert solution.

Thank you both! So the back of the wedge says Child's size: up to 60cm. Which is why we removed it ages ago, as he's quite a tall baby and has been longer than 60cm for a while. I tried him with both the wedge and cushion again, and just the wedge. Having the wedge in positions the bottom part of the seat belt far to low down on his legs. So I think just the cushion is the way to go.
I'm going to try him again in the Spin 360 when my parents come over. I presume we'll be having him in potentially with just the wedge. But I'm going to see how he fits with both.
Thanks for your help!
