Travelling to aiport

Hello all, might be a silly question but I'm due to fly with my 10 month old very soon and I wondered what people usually do about travelling to the airport in a taxi with a baby. I'm not planning to bring her car seat with me, so what do I do in this situation? Would a taxi company be able to provide a car seat or do people usually have to bring their own to solve this issue?

Just ask for a car seat when you hire the taxi.

Some taxi companies will provide a child seat, so ring around, but I'd ask if it's suitable for a young baby, as they may think you mean a booster seat. You can usually take a car seat with you for free on the plane, if you wanted to take your usual one just in case. I don't know that the taxi company would be willing to store it (and I wouldn't want them to - taxi ranks IME seem to take no notice of non smoking workplace rules!)

Legally you don't need to have a child seat in a taxi, of course the taxi isn't exempt from being in a crash, so you might not want to risk that from a safety perspective. If you're in a city and the taxi would only be travelling on slow roads and you can book a black cab, you could wheel the pushchair in and park it facing backwards in the wheelchair space which would be something.
