Britax or BeSafe??

Hi, I’m about to move my 4 year old into the next car seat up. He’s currently in a Cybex Sirona Z I-size which I’ve kept rear facing til now. My almost 2 year old will now go into that seat. I cant decide between the BeSafe Flex Fix 2 or the Britax Romer Kidfix pro. Does anyone have any experience of either of these seats? Also wondering if either of these seats would fit in the middle seat next to the Cybex for the rare occasion we need an adult to go in the back? We’ve got a Ford Kuga. Thanks!

We have a Flex Fix 2, although we’re a little older (7 years). If he’s above 100cm, and ideally around 18kg, plus if you’re sure he’ll sit sensibly and not play with the seat belt, then it’s a great seat. We have it with the Kneeguard Kids footrest for comfort and support.
You’d get a good few more years out of an ERF seat though if you wanted to consider it?
In terms of fit, I think they’re both narrow.

Did you know that larger rear facing seats exist? They are worth looking into if your 4yo is happy rear facing. They tend to have more leg room and would last another 2-3 years and could then be passed down to the youngest.

If you're looking at high back boosters the best thing to do is usually visit a local store, either an independent specialist or a general nursery goods store and try them out to see which your child finds most comfortable and how the different models fit in your car.

Thanks both! He's probably the most sensible 4 year old I've ever met, so he'd definitely be fine with a seat belt! He's 100cm with a long body and little legs. Thanks for the foot rest recommendation - I was wondering about that as obviously he's used to having his feet supported at the moment. I had thought about an ERF seat but wondered how much time I'd get out of it. He is happy rear facing still at the moment, so should probably think about this a bit more..

I would definitely consider continuing to rear face him. You’d probably get another couple of years out of a ERF seat, which you could then use for your youngest. At 100cm he’s only just tall enough to meet the criteria for a HBB.
If he’s long in the torso, I’d have a look at the Axkid Minikid 4 or Movekid. They have the tallest shell of all the ERF seats, so should work well for you.

100cm is the bare minimum requirement for a high back booster. What's his weight? He needs to be 15kg minimum, but there is evidence from the US saying over 18kg is better (obviously that's tricky with the limits of our seats so I always think as close to as possible is worth aiming for).

With a 125cm limit seat like the Axkids or the Britax ones, you could get another 4 years out of it if you really wanted to.

I'm not averse to HBB at age 4 so it's just something to weigh up for your family really. If it's about not having to buy multiple seats, you could move the DC up into them one at a time and maybe only need one HBB in the end.

Thanks! Yeah he weighs 17kg according to the scales at the GP so approaching the limit on his current seat. Will have a look at the ERF ones mentioned
