Infant carrier - Britax Baby-safe Core or Avionaut Cosmo?

I'm looking to get an infant carrier for baby due in October. Trying to decide between the Britax Baby-safe Core and the Avionaut Cosmo - other than the additional 4cm that you are meant to get in the Cosmo (87cm vs 83cm) does anyone know if there's any other difference? I've seen the Core on sale for about half the price of the Cosmo and can't work out if it would be worth it for those few extra cm. My DS is 3 and he's on a higher centile for weight than height so if this baby is similar then I think either seat would be outgrown on the weight limit before they reach the max height anyway.

Have you looked at the Avionaut Sky? Would fit from birth to about five years for a higher centile child. I know it's not what you asked but just to throw it in the mix as a long term saver.

No because my son is in a minikid 2 so the plan will be to move the baby into it after the infant seat, by which time my son should be ready for a HBB.

Hi OP,
Both of these are recommended infant carriers which give a great fit for newborns. I know that the Pixel Pro is the best for tiny babies (so maybe worth a thought if your baby is due to be on the small side).
I think the Cosmo is slightly lighter which may help when baby is bigger.

The 4cm can be disregarded, you probably won't see any practical difference here. Either seat will be fine until baby can go into the minikid which is approximately 80cm usually. Either 3 or 7cm is plenty of buffer room and the actual shell of the seat will probably be more relevant. If you can see them in person to check this might give you a better idea here.

The Cosmo has a totally different insert system which supports babies in a flatter position but does look a bit strange if you're not used to it. Whereas the Britax has a more standard newborn insert.

The Britax has a really excellently designed seatbelt routing if you will be likely to fit the seat by seatbelt without a base. The Cosmo is much more fiddly here.

Not sure if the Cosmo has the ultra-light EPS construction like the Avionaut Pixel? That might be worth looking into.

I think I'd try to find an Avionaut stockist to see the seats in person. Try them out with the weighted doll thing if the store has one.
