Car seats

Silver Cross 360 - too much “motion”

Hi, has anyone got a 360 All Motion? And does it feel really loose? We’ve never had a car seat before but the isofix gripper arms seem to wobble way too much (pic 1) and with a little wriggling when connected it jumps to the next hole (pic 2 and 3). I’m really not convinced it’s safe…

(third pic is not “sensitive” btw)

It looks to me like you haven't pushed the car seat in properly - basically, the isofix arms have multiple holes because the little connectors inside the seat gap are at different depths. Some of them are really deep back in there and some are so shallow that they are basically sticking out.

So for all isofix car seats when you install, just clicking the arms in so it goes green is just step one. It will stay attached like that, which is why it's green meaning it's OK, but to get it more secure there is usually a mechanism to tighten the arms by pushing the actual child seat itself right into the backrest of your vehicle seat until it's really snug. Sometimes you have to press a button to do this, and sometimes you literally just push the car seat towards the back of the car until you can't push it in any more. Rocking it gently from side to side can tighten it even more. It sounds like you have this if your car seat is trying to retract itself. It won't be designed to stay on a setting where the seat is too far out, it wants to retract in (sometimes they are actually designed so the movement of the car will make this happen automatically so it gets tighter and more secure over time). Tip - If you're ever struggling to release isofix, it has probably done this, so push the entire seat IN as you release it.

I can see in pic 2 that you have a huge gap between that brace and the backrest of your vehicle seat, which isn't right - the job of that brace is to really push snugly up to the back seat, keep the whole unit firm and secure, and reduce upward rebound in an accident. There should be no gap between the brace and the back seat.

The other part making the seat secure is the support leg. Is this in place and adjusted correctly?
