Nuna Arra Next vs Cybex Cloud T - Help

Hi everyone!
I’m looking at getting either the Nuna Arra Next or the Cybex Cloud T for a newborn car seat. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or pros/cons for either of these that might help me make a decision.

Go easy on me, this is my first baby, and car seats/prams seem to be a minefield 🙈

Thank you!

The Nuna car seat is a bit lighter to carry, but the Cybex has a nicer position for newborns IMO.

The Nuna car seat can only be fitted using the isofix base whereas Cybex also has the possibility to fit just the seat using the seatbelt.

Cybex will likely last longer in terms of height, though this may be moot - most people stop using the infant seat at some point towards the end of the first year. Both of these will last past then.

There isn't much else to differentiate between them. I would probably choose the Cybex, out of the two. It's my "money is no object" favourite infant car seat. In reality I chose a cheaper one (Cybex Aton 5).

I would consider whether you really want to spend £450 on a car seat and base set which you'll use for (likely) less than a year, or whether a set for approx £200 (£100 without base) would be just as good. Of course you do get some extra things for your £2-350 extra, but are they really £250/350 worth of extras? These seats are pushed very heavily by marketers, so be careful you're not buying into sales hype.

Do you need an infant carrier? If not you could get an extended rear facing seat for newborns upwards that will last your child until 5-7 years old dependant on height.

I had nuna pippa and it was very handy, so I'd go for arra, mesh canopy is useful and the weight of the car seat makes things easier.

@BertieBotts Thank you for your very helpful response. You’ve been incredible helpful on other threads I’ve read too 🙏🏻
I appreciate that both are expensive and pretty hyped up tbh, but we’re lucky that we’re getting a huge discount on a car seat/base which will make these just under £300 so as stupid as it is, in my head it seems to give me a bit of peace of mind to get the best we can for our money.
We aren’t able to walk anywhere from where we live so the seat will get lots of use whenever we want to go anywhere, mostly for short trips, so will make it better value for money than if it were just sat in the car whilst we walked everywhere (she tells herself 😁).

My biggest sway at the moment is towards the Cybex because the Nuna is Isofix only. If we go anywhere in someone else’s car, I don’t want the hassle to have to move the base all the time.

@Sunshinesamba21 Thanks for your reply.
We live quite remotely, so the only way to get anywhere is by car unfortunately. I don’t want to have to move the baby into the stroller every time we go anywhere, especially for short trips out to the shops, so would prefer a carry car seat. But I do appreciate that the expire very quickly so it means we will have to buy another seat pretty quickly.

I have the Cybex, it's pretty heavy, you won't carry it far! I have an ocarro travel system & adapters so we can use the car seat on that if I'm just nipping in and out of the shop quickly. I have no other issues with it except the weight

I've heard awful things about nuna car seats making babies chin to chest and giving an poor fit for newborns. Are you set on those two? Heard good things about avionaut pixel Pro. We had a maxi cosi cabriofix isize which came as a bundle with our pram and gave a good fit but much cheaper.

Just be mindful of the amount of time you keep babies in the carseat for if using it on the pram. Recomended to limit to around 30 minutes when newborn before being given a break. A lot of people think it's 2 hours then a break. Once mine was a little older, I found it so heavy to lift and clip onto the pram (which always seemed to stick) so ended up using a wrap/carrier instead until she was able to sit in a trolley.
