Joie Stages as travel seat?

Does anyone have experience with the Joie Stages? Thinking if buying this as a travel car seat for my almost 2 year old, to be used in rental cars abroad. Is it easy to fit and likely to fit in most cars (we won’t be renting anything totally shitty so should be a decent modern car)? Are there any other options we should be considering? Easy to fit, likely to fit in most cars and safe are the main criteria. We will check it in so doesn’t have to be super light or anything. Prefer rear facing and seatbelt fitted as don’t want to muck around with tethers. Is it likely to last until a booster seat can be used if my child is tall but thin (90th percentile height but 20th percentile weight)?

I have the joie stages as our main car seat, it's very easy to use & fit into other cars. It is very big though. My husband calls it our sons 'armchair'.
We have a joie elevate for travelling which is very compact (however it is forward facing only)

We have one and it is a good seat, seems comfy and is easy to fit, but I wouldn't want to be carrying in around an airport (I know you checking it, but still have to get there). It's aimed at birth-7, but my tall/skinny boy outgrew it by about 4, he was easily still within the weight range (still would be at 7) but the head rest, can only be put up so far, so he didn't get much use in HBB mode. The all-stages would last longer, but then it's even bigger to transport.
