3 Car Seats in Nissan Qashqai

Hi all,
Looking for some help to figure out this car seat conundrum! I’ve recently found out that I’m expecting baby number 3!

We need to get 3 car seats in the back of our car and ideally want our children rear facing as long as possible. When baby arrives I’ll have a 2.5 old, 1.5 old and a newborn.

Has anyone managed to fit three seats across the back or even in front passenger with airbag disabled?

We can’t change car as finances are tight. Have looked at multimacs and would love one but again looking to see if there’s a cheaper way to do this.

Suggestions welcome

Lucy 😊

Don't buy a multimacs they really aren't that safe!
Depending where you are you might have a specialist car seats seller near you. The often stock the extended rear facing seat but also sell infant seats. They might be able to puzzles your car seat problem.

The infant seat in the front seat will be the quickest option if car seats are allowed in the front and the airbag can be turned off as not possible in all cars.

Also check your allowed car seats in the car back middle as that is sometimes a problem as well.

From a quick Google is seems like it's definitely a struggle until someone is old enough for a high back booster seat, which for you is definitely a while away.
Infant in the front seat is going to be the easiest option.

The Multimac isn't as unsafe as people make it out to be. But it won't let you rear face for very long, likely the 2.5yo will already be too big.

I think you're going to really struggle with those age gaps in a quashqai - sorry :(

Your best bet is probably 3x Joie Tilt or 2x Joie Tilt and 1x Axkid Move. But I have a sneaking feeling that the car does not actually allow a car seat in the centre at all. Have a look at your vehicle handbook.

you're not going to be able to do what you want.

we had a mondeo estate when we found out we were expecting DC3 and we had to change cars.

I would look at changing cars as soon as you can afford to. We have a fabulous Galaxy as our 'family car' and my DH has a Nissan Qashqai. Even now with no car seats in it is uncomfortable for the 3 DS and when we had one car seat in the front and 2 car seats in the back the middle space was incredibly uncomfortable for me to sit in. In fact I literally had to sit sideways and at that point I was quite slim.

We never investigated car seats to fit in it as we had all the space we needed in the Galaxy but we found the Galaxy was a great investment and now we have three teenagers it still had plenty of room.

Somewhere like the In Car Safety Centre would be your best bet as they are really good at working combinations out.

They were so helpful for us although eventually we concluded we'd have to buy a new car

You need a specialist eg https://www.saundersandsmalls.co.uk/ Charlene knows a lot about the seats, and will have fitted 3 to a QashQai I'm sure, so will know exactly what to recommend

Heya sweet. Charlene from Saunders & Smalls Car Seats here. Thanks for the recommendation. The qashqai is a tricky vehicle as it’s more like half a middle seat. It has been done with seats such as the axkid Movekid, axkid minikid 4 and avionaut cosmo. But I’ve not done it myself, in person.
depending where the OP is. I’d be happy to recommend a local retailer to support them in person, on a 1:1 :)
Charlene x
