Alternatives to maxi cosi nomad

My daughter is currently 20 months old and only just hit 9kgs (she is very skinny). We are looking to do a group family holiday in December in a place i would not want to rent a car but we will likely be doing lots of taxi rides etc. We will need to be able to walk around with it on our backs in museums and other activities so want something lightweight and easy to put in and out the car. also as something to keep at my sisters for back up in case she needs to do pick ups etc.

We have looked at the nomad but seems to be out of stock everywhere and not sure if its been discontinued. Anything else that is safe and light?

I definitely wouldn't put a 20 month old in a maxi cosi nomad. I wouldn't put my 3.5 year old in it as she's still rear facing.
I don't think you would have many safe options that are super lightweight for a child that small. A infant seat that has a good height limit is probably best for travelling and safer.

There aren't really any good alternatives and the Nomad itself isn't that great in terms of safety, I don't think.

Would she still fit into an infant carrier? The original Joie Juva is fairly roomy and really cheap, wouldn't last past this trip I don't think though.

If not, Graco Extend LX is a great option. Or I've had a Cozy n Safe Fitzroy as a spare for DC3, it's a pain to keep track of all the inserts that move around constantly and change the position of the straps, but if you are aware of that it's not bad. It can rear face up to 13kg so OK for a lightweight toddler :)

Neither of those are as portable as the Nomad but there isn't much that is past infant carrier stage.
