I'm struggling to find info on whether the Britax babysafe 5z2 will go in my pushchair - uppababy vista v2.. anyone know?

Britax does have their own click and go adaptors on their website but the uppababy ones don't seem available anywhere.

It's all really unclear.

My second choice car seat is avionaut pixel pro but I've seen this recommended for small babies in particular and mines estimated to be big.. and I'm again unsure whether the uppababy own adaptors take this seat.

The Britax 5Z2 doesn't use the old Britax Click & Go adapters, it goes on the universal/Maxi Cosi type adapters :)

Basically most brands use the same type. They were originally only for Maxi Cosi (which is why they are called that) but over time several other brands made their car seats compatible too, although some of the more budget brands like Graco, Ickle Bubba, Hauck etc kept their own brand-specific ones. For ages, Britax was the only "premium" brand that had their own brand-specific adapters and it must have started to lose them sales, so they switched a year or two ago to using the Maxi Cosi type for their newer models. The old type is called Click & Go.

Avionaut Pixel Pro goes on these same type adapters.

There is apparently a question about whether there is any physical incompatability for example relating to the depth of the receiver hooks inside the car seat, or the angle of the seat when on the adapters, if it's not on the "official approved list" so it is worth taking your pushchair with universal car seat adapter to a car seat shop and asking whether you can try the display models on the buggy.

Pushchair companies generally keep a few of the most popular car seat models in stock (plus their own branded car seats of course) so that they can test compatibility and advertise them as officially approved. But the actual list of seats that will go on the same adapters is much larger, especially as the pushchair manufacturer's car seat collection quickly goes out of date.

@BertieBotts thank you that's helpful. I have found it to be a nightmare getting the correct info online. I've even emailed places who won't say as of been tested. Do you know if these are the uppababy adaptors that would work with the seat?

I don't think anywhere near me stocks the two seats I mentioned, so I might have to try it at home and if not either send the seat back or not use it with the pram. I've researched the seats far too much now and need to just go with one! I do keep thinking all this fuss and I'll probably hardly clip it on but wanted the option

Yes, that's right.

If you're going to order a car seat online with the potential plan to return, it's worth checking the returns policy first. Although in theory you have 14 days to return anything bought online under the distance selling act, a lot of shops have their own rules around not reselling returned car seats, so they are often miffed if you want to return and try to argue that you can't.

Have you tried looking on Britax's website to see if they have any stockists near you? Avionaut as well (though they are less commonly stocked). If you can find an independent that is usually best in terms of developing a relationship with the staff for any after sales support.

@BertieBotts I've just seen online my local shop does actually have some britax seats but not the one I've gone for, I'm going to go in there anyway and see if they can advise. No other stockists nearby. Otherwise I'll try and keep the seat in its original packaging as much as possible and just get to the bit the adaptors need to go in and test it out. Website states it's only opened breast pumps and mattresses that can't be returned. It won't be the end of world if I can't use with pram I don't think, first baby so not sure how we'll use things yet, and I'm quite set on the seat now, I'm infuriatingly slow at making decisions but once my minds made up!

It does look like a nice one :) I like Britax products.
