360 spin car seats

Looking for a 360 spin car seat, please can you share your recommendations? On a budget so nothing more than the £200 mark.

The ones I've seen so far is the Graco Turn 2 Me 360, Ikkle Bubba Radius 360 and the Joie 360 Spin.

i have the Joie and I don’t like it. It feels cheap and flimsy compared to the maxi cosi Pearl I had but gave to MIL (was a non spinny and I wanted a spinny for myself). Im going to get the spinny maxi cosi Pearl for the baby I’m pregnant with now.

Best bet is probably to go and see them in real life.

I've got the joie 360 spin .... it's okay;daughter loved it when she went in due to reflux, but there is hardly any leg room in the front of my car as to how big the actual seat is ....

I have a petite child who's 2.5 and she's still got ages left in it - babies don't get an ideal fit until 5/6 months (normally) even though they say from birth

Have you checked your child's height & weight - as spin chairs don't last very long and some children outgrow them by 2 years

Agree with this. First time we fitted it it just felt flimsy and not secure. We've just moved it to the other side of the car for our littlest and again it's just flimsy in comparison to the maxi cosi (non spin) car seats we've had.

Bbdm1984 · 16/07/2023 16:18

Sorry should have said it also is from birth all the way to 12 so won't have to buy another either

allthingssparkly · 16/07/2023 16:21

My baby is 5 months old currently, so I want one from birth that will last us a good few years ideally. With my older children I never bought a 360 spin car seat, I just thought they'd be some what easier or are they not? I don't have anything to compare to at the moment! Just want to make sure I'm buying what's right for my little one.

Number one piece of advice is make sure it properly fits your car. Ease of access, design, rear facing, lasting for years etc all is irrelevant if it doesn't install safely in your model of car. My kids seats did not fit in my parents car due to car design (Peugeot I'm looking at you!) Go to a shop that allows you to check fit before you buy

allthingssparkly · 16/07/2023 16:25

Yes I will definitely check this before purchasing @gogomoto there's a few stores near me I can go to, where I can have it tested in my car too before hand to make sure it's the right fit.

I'd skip the Ickle Bubba - the Joie and Graco are good options.

Ickle Bubba is only RF to 13kg whereas the others are 18kg. You can only use the reclined position to RF whereas the others allow child to be more sat up. If you use the seatbelt fit mode you can't rotate it, and the booster mode has no adjustable shoulder strap which is really poor.

Ickle Bubba is total budget tier, whereas Joie and Graco are top end of budget tier. This is why they tend to feel a bit more "cheap" in comparison to brands like Maxi Cosi and Britax.

Graco have an i-size version of the Turn2Me which has slightly better side impact protection.

Britax Dualfix 2R and Cybex Sirona S often go down to this price as well if you would like to compare them. These feel a bit nicer than the Joie/Graco.

It is a good idea to check the fit and features in your car before you buy :)

I love the 360 seats, they are great. The only time I'd say not to buy one is if your baby is on higher growth centiles - as a 25kg ERF seat would be better in that case. They last longer, but do cost a bit more, but you could keep LO in their infant carrier and save up.

allthingssparkly · 17/07/2023 17:39

I have also noticed their are two joie 360's they very much look alike! Is one a newer version from the other?

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 17/07/2023 22:44

Yes, you have the Joie 360 spin, and the i-spin 360.

The i-spin is approved to the newer safety regulation, so has better side impact protection.

The other differences are that the handle to spin it is located on the side, on the 360 spin it's by the feet which can be a bit difficult to reach in some cars.

The newer one has a memory foam headrest, whereas the old one is just polystyrene and padding, and the inserts are a bit less bulky, it has an extra recline setting too, although it doesn't actually recline any further for younger children as this is cancelled out by the insert.

There are also the "safe" versions of spin and i-spin, these don't allow you to use the forward facing mode at all.

There is Joie i-spin grow which has a booster mode up to 25kg built in but it was a bit of a flop and had a bad safety test result.

Then there is the new i-Spin XL but I don't know much about this yet. I'd probably give it a steer as the all stages seats tend not to be that good.

kersh33 · 18/07/2023 14:27

I have the Joie 360 I-spin and really like it. We only used it as a second stage seat though. DD was in the Cybex Cloud Z infant seat before that.

DD is 3 soon and still fits rear facing but she is on the petite side (50th percentile for height but around 30th for weight). We have a 5 door Corsa.

I find the spin really handy to be honest - wouldn't want to be without it. It really makes getting DD in and out of the seat a breeze.

Crimsonbow · 18/07/2023 14:36

We have two joie 360 spin seats and we had a cybex sirona s before eldest DC outgrew it. I really rate the joie for ease and comfort of child and driver. It is a big seat but fits behind my 6 3 husband in our estate car and ford focus (although not so comfortably in the focus so we have it behind the passenger and there's enough room for me at 5 7)

Youngest DC has been in it from about 4 months because of hating the car and is just about to outgrow it at nearly 4 and I'm not sure what to do next. We have a 25kg erf seat for the eldest but that's so huge we couldn't fit another behind the driver.

allthingssparkly · 18/07/2023 17:26

Is there anyway of me checking online whether the cybex one will fit in the back of my vauxhall corsa?

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 18/07/2023 18:41

Is your car less than ten years old? If so it probably has some "i-size" points which will accept any i-size seat.

If it's a three door corsa, the Cybex will be no use to you, because the way to make it spin around is to push up under the child's feet, and this is inaccessible when the child is rear facing in a 3 door car.

If it's 5 door and older than ten years there will be a fit list on the cybex website, which you can consult.

Bear in mind that the fit lists and even i-size compatability only tell you if the car seat is physically compatible. It doesn't tell you what the angle is for your baby (and it can be too steep for a 5mo in some cars), it doesn't tell you whether or not it's awkward to get the child in and out, it doesn't tell you how much space you end up with in the front.

To find out all of these things you'd need a physical fit check which you can do before you buy in many car seat shops. Although obviously not when buying online.

allthingssparkly · 18/07/2023 18:52

Thanks so much @BertieBotts 🥰 My car is a 16 plate and it's 5 door 😊 Maybe I need to see it tested out in my car first. It's a bargain on John Lewis, haven't seen it cheaper anywhere else. Maybe some stores will price match?

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 18/07/2023 19:13

I'm sure John Lewis stores will price match with their own online website, that's usually how it works. If you have a local one go in and ask.

allthingssparkly · 18/07/2023 20:26

It's not in stock in my local JL store unfortunately @BertieBotts but there are other places I could go to view it.

Do not know if anyone has recommended the Britax romer 360 spin?
Just as a side note they can be a complete pain to put in/take out but it feels very sturdy and was the first car seat my LO did not spend his whole time screaming in

Spittingmydummyout · 11/01/2024 19:32

Hi all, do any of you reccomend the cosatto all in one spin? Thanks

Lavender2021 · 11/01/2024 19:41

We brought the cybex sirona Z and had terrible headflop in it as the recline wasn't enough for our slightly sloped seats in a ford focus and ford fiesta. In the end we skipped the spin seat weight range and jumped to a Extended rear facing car seats to save us buying another seat before a high back booster seat and incase we had more headflop problems as the recline had more options.

Balloontree · 11/01/2024 19:44

The rotation mechanism on my Cybex Sirona size broke at 2 years and the customer service from Cybex was awful, despite being under warranty.
