Hi, we're after a good forward facing seat for a 3 year old, as safe as possible but not the Anoris since we've had a bad experience with those.

It feels like he's in a slightly awkward category of being too small for seats like the Axkid Nextkid, Britax Kidfix or the Cybex Solution T i-Fix, but also is on the cusp of outgrowing the buckle systems on seats like the Pallas G, Advansafix etc.

I'm wondering if there are any seats which have something a bit more substantial beyond 105cm for HBB? Ideally secured only by ISOFIX but being secured by a belt/tether is fine too, as we likely won't take the seat out of the car anyway.

Thanks :)

(disclaimer: we have 4 Axkid One 2s, 1 Cybex Anoris and 1 Britax Romer Maxway Plus - rear facing is just not an option unfortunately, otherwise I would love to stick with the Axkids as they're amazing)

Joie Bold is probably what you want - it's harnessed up to 25kg and equivalent height (so probably 125cm or so). It fits using isofix, seatbelt and top tether. You need all three due to the higher weight capacity.

Otherwise you could take a risk with one of the 105cm harness ones and just hope that he doesn't grow too quickly? 7cm is quite a lot in terms of child height, as on average a child will grow about 6cm per year so you might get over a year from the harness if you choose a 105cm one. Maybe depends on if he's just turned 3 or closer to 4 already.

And some people do just keep using the seat past the height limit, obviously it's not advised, but it's not quite the same as overloading the weight limit on a harness. I probably wouldn't go massively over, and I wouldn't go over for a shield type seat but you could get a good 6 months or so by going over a couple of cm, if the child still fits in all the other ways (e.g. not too tall for harness). If you don't feel comfortable doing this, you could also look at R44 regulated seats, like the Advansafix IV R, or Recaro Tian Elite, or Maxi Cosi Tobifix, which (like the Max Way) don't have a set height limit and are outgrown by height when the child is physically too large for the seat or by weight. If you did this, it would be worth checking the seat in a shop to see if you still have a few settings to adjust the headrest or if you're already on the top setting.

Thank you so much, that's really helpful - sounds like the Bold is a great option, although I do like the Advansafix too, but the option to be harnassed up to 125cm sounds great.
