All in one car seat

Hi all, does anyone know of any other brands other than Jane who do an all in one car seat but with a detachable isize seat, like the Jane Groowy? (Pic attached) I like Jane stuff, first travel system for DC1 was Jane and great quality but their carseats won't attach to any other buggies/prams. Our stationary car was crashed into and insurance say we cannot use our car seats now. DC2 is 7 months old and when I'm nipping to the shops or quick errand and baby asleep, I often use the carseat on a set of wheels, however if we have to get new seats, should probably just get one that's going to last DC2 for a while rather than another I size only which she will have outgrown in a few months. Insurance will pay out for a new seat around same cost. Joie I level and I base cost us over £300 but I am willing to put money towards new seat to get what I want if possible, however £600 for a seat is alot of money, plus the Jane isn't very universal.

Sorry just read description of Jane groowy and apparently they have universal maxi cosi style adaptors now so it would fit many prams and buggies (still very expensive though) was hoping something no more than £450/£500 at a push.

I loveeeed My doona, it was so handy when my baby was sleeping just lifted him out and popped the wheels out from underneath. However now he is far too heavy so we got a 360 josie one x

I'd get the insurance to buy the best ERF fixed seat to use from 12 months plus (like the Axkid ones) and buy something like the Joie Juva which can go on any maxi Cosi adapters for the next 5 months.

We just got a BeSafe Stretch and it's brilliant. I don't know of any that can be taken in and out and last longer than an infant carrier/first stage seat (as we'd have bought it!)

Our eldest moved into an Axkid minikid when he outgrew his infant carrier. Also a fab car seat.

I know @Raexx I said to dh if we have a third we are getting a doona 😂but I know she won't fit in it in a few months, she's big.

That's a good idea @mafsfan my inlaws have a cabriofix they would probably give us for a few months until baby fits new one. Dd is bf and she doesn't really get left, I don't think they've ever used it with our second dc, so by the time they're looking after her for any period of time, she will have outgrown it. I've never seen those seats before, look really good.

Thanks @lochmaree will look at that.

Recaro Salia Elite is the only other one which works like this.

The infant seat on the Groowy is really tiny though, I'm surprised you were still able to use it at 7mo?

If I were you I'd just get a cheap infant seat + base combo for now but one that lasts a long time, if you need a universal one that goes on lots of buggies Joie Gemm is the cheapest plus the Clickfit belt fitted base, and is fairly roomy. Then get a fixed seat when you're ready to change from the baby seat.

Joie Juva has different adapters BTW. Most of the Joie car seats use the Maxi Cosi adapters but Juva is the exception.

@BertieBotts we actually haven't used the groowy+nest, we had the Joie I level lay flat and base. I just liked the look of the groowy as it would mean not having to get another one in a few months. With our previous Jane travel system for DD1 we used the koos and i found it roomy but DD1 was and is very small compared to DD2. Courtesy car is being delivered tomorrow so I'm going to have to source new seat for my toddler as don't have a spare for her, she had the cossatto all in one 360 I think it's called. I need to use the car tomorrow for tumble tots class which is in the next town so will have to source a seat for toddler today in our local retail park so it will be whatever is available really. Will probably just use the cabriofix my in laws have and get insurance to pay for for something similar to what toddler is in for DD2 as that can be used from birth anyway but will use the cabriofix on wheels until she doesnt fit it any longer. Thanks for all suggestions.

Ah I see right, the Groowy Nest is only suitable up to 65cm, which would be about 4 months old for an average baby. The i-Level is much roomier so that makes more sense.

The Cabriofix sounds like a sensible solution for now.

If your DD1 is forward facing, there is a Jané 123 type seat (harness to booster) which gets a good crash test score or I would look at Britax or Recaro if you can for her. Unless she is on higher centiles then Joie Bold might be worth getting as it has a 5 point harness you can use for longer.

If you want DD1 rear facing, it's worth looking at the seats others mentioned like the Besafe Stretch. But for now since you need to get from retail park, look at Britax Dualfix or Joie Spin or Maxi Cosi Mica. These are all good spin options that DD1 could use for now and then swap DD2 into them later when you get DD1 a larger rear facing seat. (This is all assuming DD1 is under 18kg.)

If you are really desperate for it to be an all in one the Silver Cross one is meant to be the best, but in general you are better off getting separate 5 point harness seat (whether spin, rear facing, forward facing) and high backed booster seat later. With two children it is worth getting different seats that you can pass down, tailored for each stage. The ones that cover multiple stages tend not to perform as well for safety in any stage.

BertieBotts · 27/03/2023 12:45

Oh no sorry I think I was mistaken about the Jané 123 seat - I can't find it now.

121gigawatts · 27/03/2023 15:37

Thanks @BertieBotts you've been super helpful. So as it turns out my insurance co only use Halfords to replace seats. Halfords gave me a call and I got 2 Joie i-spins 360 with the voucher they gave me which should be delivered tomorrow.

We have an i spin 360 in dh's car but no seat for DD2 as my car is our main family car so she is never in his car whereas DD1 does get dropped off for childcare two days a week by DH. DH is going to remove his seat tonight to put in courtesy car when it comes in the morning as I don't think the seats I've ordered will come in time for our class. They're a pain to get in and out but they're a good seat once in and DD1 still rear faces.

Will use inlaws cabriofix for a few months whilst I can. Unfortunately no isofix for it so may source one.

I guess there is a silver lining to someone smashing into our car in that I now don't need to buy a larger seat when the time has come for DD2. I did ask Halfords if we could do this, and she said we can use the voucher for or towards whatever seats we liked. Just need to hear about the damage to car now, we know it's pretty bad. At least sorting out the seats was easy!
