Looking to see if anyone have a rivemove isofix adapter they would be willing to sell, have looked everywhere and cannot find one. We have 3 little ones now and I can't fit the 3 car seats in the back of my car. Thanks

It may be better to change the car seats and/or consider moving one child to the front. Rivemove is only approved for high backed boosters and shouldn't be used for other types of car seats. Since you can use any high back booster without the isofix, it's unnecessary, simply detach the isofix and push the seat across.

You may also want to know that it potentially introduces a risk - it places the seat further forwards in the car, which is a problem for forward facing seats which are designed with a minimum level of distance to the seat in front. There was a case in Spain where during a crash, a little girl hit her head on a tablet attached to the seat in front and died, the parents tried to sue Rivemove because of this reduction in distance, which is likely to have been a contributing factor. The case got thrown out because there were too many other contributing factors, and it couldn't be determined that the Rivemove device was solely responsible, but I think it's notable. I have noticed that the In Car Safety Centre has quietly removed it from their site (despite very enthusiastically recommending it for several months). There is a small bit of text in the instructions mentioning the need for the 55cm gap but to somebody who does not know the context around this (ie most laypeople), I don't think it is at all clear what it means nor why it is important.

If you would like help looking for 3x seats that will fit across the back I can see what I can advise, if you let me know the ages/weights/preferred types of seat of the children, and the seats you're using now. If you are using for example spin seats and/or multi-group seats, those tend to be the most bulky and you can gain significant space by changing to seats which are more slimline and cover one stage.

@BertieBotts That’s not entirely true - I’ve been researching the RiveMove since having twins recently and have a preschooler in a RF seat and the in car safety centre has not stopped endorsing it - I can’t post the link (because I’m not very technical!) but this is a screenshot from their Facebook page responding to an old post about the RiveMove where they have replied in the last few weeks saying it is out of stock and hoping it will return soon…

They explain this is why it is no longer listed, not because they no longer endorse it.

I didn't say that they definitely no longer endorsed it, just that they had removed it from their site. Stock issues makes sense, I still don't like it as a product, and I am yet to come across a situation where it's genuinely a useful option. There are other ways to get three children across in a car.

@BertieBotts just came across this thread as I’m researching the Rivemove - had never heard of it before until trying to find a way to get three car seats in the back seats. We have 5yo twins who both use the Recaro Mako Elite i-size car seat that can be used with or without isofix - I prefer to use it with the isofix for added safety and also as my twins are just over the weight requirement for these seats. Also have an 18mo who uses the maxicosi with the isofix base.
Any suggestions on how we fit all 3 kids in the back seat? Would be great to get some
ideas. TIA.

Hi Mumlovestea

The isofix in high backed boosters doesn't add any safety, so if you can fit them in without using the isofix I would do that. The Rivemove wouldn't add any benefit here. If your twins are only just 15kg, then you might also want to consider keeping them harnessed - there are studies showing that children are not protected well in high backed boosters at 15kg, better closer to 18kg. It's complicated because these are American studies, and their booster seats tend to be a bit less substantial than ours. Your booster is more of a European style one and might be better, also the fact they are 5 years old rather than 3 is of benefit, it's just a bit unclear in the data. If you have harnessed seats that you can fit them in then it would be preferable until outgrown.

What set up have you had before the baby was 18 months? You might have some success with a Swedish type rear facing seat for the baby, like Britax Max Way Plus? These are narrower across the base so good for fitting 3 across. But with any 3 across situation, unless you have a 7 seater car with 3 full seats in the back it's usually a case of trial and error trying out different models - you want to go to a really big pram and car seat centre and see what options they have. Often it's the shape more than the width so looking online doesn't usually help very much. Isofix is often unhelpful because it is in a fixed position whereas belt fitted seats can have a little more play and flexibility in how they are fitted - as long as they don't move too much.

Hey I have one for sale on eBay atm, got a few days left at auction 👍🏼

TripletsDaddy · 26/02/2023 17:30

Hi, I have two of the RiveMove Isofix adaptors as these were the only safe way to have 3 car seats for my triplets.
They are moving to booster seats so I'm going to list them on eBay, let me know if you are interested.

Spanna9801 · 26/02/2023 22:15

I would be interested if OP is not. Trying to fit twins and a 3 year old in the back!

I was under the impression that the Rivemove adaptors are only certified to be used with boosters?

Quids in thought if you do shove on eBay, mine sold for 380 and that was just one of them!

Chinchin00 · 04/01/2024 14:11

Hi anyone know if rivemove are still a functioning company because I can't seem to find these anywhere?! 😭

Nonstop24 · 17/06/2024 12:20

@Chinchin00 hi, sorry I know this is a really old post but I was Googling rivemove and found this post. Did you get anywhere with finding an adaptor?

Chinchin00 · 18/06/2024 21:51

Hey nope no luck on my side, looks to me like the company couldn't get it signed off. I've also not been able to find anything like it that is safe to use either. If you get any luck please let me know

BertieBotts · 25/06/2024 16:42

As far as I can tell, they went bust.

You can get 3 car seats across in a surprising number of cars, if this is any use. Some of the car seat models are no longer available, but the principle still works:

There is also Multimac which is worth looking at, especially if you're past the ERF stage.
