Car seat suggestions for Mini Cooper

Looking for a stage 2/3 car seat that can fit into a Mini Cooper please. Something not too expensive if possible! My son is 2 and almost 15kg and looks quite squashed in the current one!

Group 2/3 seats are high backed booster seats which use the adult seatbelt, at 2, although he will legally be able to use one at 15kg, it wouldn't be a good idea as they should still be in a five point harness at this age for a good couple more years yet.

Does your mini have isofix and top tether points? (All cars made after 2013 do). That is what you need for the seats that keep the harness after 18kg, assuming you want a forward facing seat. If you're open to rear facing (which is safer) you can get several options which fit using seatbelt.

What seat do you have now? Have you checked if there are inserts to remove or the headrest/harness can be moved up to accommodate growth? Most car seats have these options and they can help when the seat is looking squished. Most Group 1 seats accommodate up to 18kg, so nearly 15kg should not be at the limit of the seat yet, unless he's very tall.

Also, if you're using any coats in the colder mornings, it's best to take the coat off for the car journey and put it on when you get him out of the car. They are too bulky and cause the safety harness not to fit properly.

Thanks for the reply. We do have isofix, it's a 2015 mini. We currently have this seat. Love it but he's looking squished!

Britax maxway black series is what we have, very compact and RF up to 25kg. Swedish plus tested

Aah OK the Dualfix has a shorter shell than the other spin seats. He's safe in it regardless as long as his shoulders still fit under the headrest. The headrest has a few different positions but you might be at the top one already?

Anyway yes the Max Way Plus would be a good option if you like Britax as it's a very similar seat to the Dualfix, just bigger and without the spin.

Or if you prefer to forward face you might want to look at Joie Bold, that has the tallest harness.
