Maxi cosi coral 360 or Cybex cloud z

Hi All

Does anyone have either of these car seats?

I’m torn between the 2 I like the fact the cloud z lies flat but it’s quite heavy for my mum, so hence looking at the coral with the pull out.

I’m just wondering if the coral pull out bit is just a gimmick or actually useful

Thanks

We’ve got the Cybex. I’m not sure the lie flat bit is worth it… I love the seat but we rarely use the lie flat feature, and it weighs an absolute ton.

@TakeYourFinalPosition thank you again wondered if it was mainly a gimmicky thing

The Maxi Cosi Coral 360 is about the only seat where the 360 makes sense IMO for an infant carrier! The angle of it is nice so you don't need the lie flat as such.

Bear in mind if you want to attach the seat to a buggy it has to be in the full "shell" part and that weighs a lot, more than the Cybex even, it's only lightweight if you're only using the insert part. So depends what your mum would be doing with the seat. If it's to put on and off a buggy, look at the Pebble 360 instead.

Are you set on having a 360 seat from birth? Both of these are good seats with good ADAC scores but if you're planning on getting an isofix base they're quite pricey and, depending on how big your baby is they could grow out of the seat before they are 1. The cybex one in particular is only suitable up to 13kg - my 9mo is just over that (he is big though). They both have proprietary isofix so you end up either having to buy the next seat from the same brand or ditching the whole lot. (May not be a problem!)

You could get a travel system that includes a seat and isofix in the price - when they're tiny i didn't find having a 360 seat important as you almost always put them in the seat outside the car and then put the whole lot in the car together. It was only once DS got heavier and I couldn't physically lift him and the seat out of the car together that 360 was useful. By that time I wasn't using the car seat on the pram anymore because I had to lift DS out separately anyway so may as well put him straight in his pram seat which was more comfy and had lower SIDS risk if he fell asleep. At that point we bought a Joie ispin 360 which will last longer as suitable to 105cm. They say 4yrs but for DS that's more likely 2.5yrs. Still longer than either of the seats mentioned. Or you can go straight to a seat that fits up to 125cm.

I guess I'm saying why 360 from birth? But if that's already decided they both look great!

My BIL has a 9 month old bumper of a baby and my partner is adamant he wants a 360 one from birth. I saw a kiddy one the other day that included an isofix which was a lie flat but not a 360 and it was over half the price which I’d rather get so we’re not tied in 12 months time of getting whatever brand I get, but my argument fell on deaf years that we can have a 360 in 12 months time when it would be more beneficial for us

Kiddy have gone bust so if that seat is still on sale it will likely be very old stock.

You're not tied into getting the same brand seat anyway. When you look to upgrade you will find that a lot of the next stage options have the base built in or don't need a base. All the rotating ones with separate toddler seat / base / infant seat, the toddler seat portion costs about £300! And you can get a standalone spin seat with its own base for £2-300 or a 25kg rear facing one from £200.

The baby seats that rotate aren't the only way of getting a toddler seat that rotates, in short! Try costing up the whole set - the rotation is nice but I'm not sure it's £450 nice.

You might want to look at Recaro Salia Elite as well, that's an interesting option.

Ta I will look into it and try fight the battle with the OH. Worst thing is when it came to the pram he was have whatever pram you want cause you’ll be pushing it more than me and quite frankly this will also apply to the car seat too 🙈 I’m like you I don’t see the point of a 360 until they are bigger it’s not that he’s not going to be a hands on dad but with his job as a farmer he rarely leaves the farm so bambino will mainly be in a carrier at home!

I didn’t have the 360 version as it wasn’t a thing but I have the Cybex Cloud Q. It was heavy but I loved it. I used the lie flat bit quite a bit when on the pram. It’s not perfect as it’s not quite flat but DD had terrible colic and being able to move her without waking her was essential for my sanity. She fitted in it until she was nearly 2, by which time I couldn’t carry her in it and it stayed in the car. The 360 would have been useful by that point, I don’t think I’d have used it when she was smaller.
