Joie Fortifi? or Joie Bold?

Hi, I was in a minor car accident and need to replace my car seats. I was going to move up a stage anyway for my just-turned-4yo who is tall and needs to go up a stage - but I want a 5-point harness option.

I previously had the Joie Bold for my elder DC which I was happy with but these are currently £200 whereas the Joie Fortifi is a bit cheaper at around £110-130. It looks pretty much the same (and no Which review yet) so was wondering if anyone knows how it compares? Insurance doesn't cover the full cost of replacing both seats so would like to not be out of pocket, but obviously don't want to compromise safety - I have no idea why some are far more expensive than others for no obvious reason!

Thanks in advance.

Oh I've just seen that the Fortifi harness is only for use up to 18kg, which I think dc2 is.
Weird that the Bold goes up to 25kg? Is that really correct? I took that all into account when buying the original Bold and that is what it states on the Joie website. Just seems odd to me that there's a 7kg difference between the two seats' harness limit.

I doubt DC2 would actually need to use the harness for more than a year or so but I feel it's a safer option than going straight into a normal seatbelt one.

Sweet Jesus, this was in active and I thought it was baby names!

Grin well, it's still better than Britax Roemer, I suppose!

What centile is he following? Joie seats aren’t great for children above 50th centile I believe as they’ll outgrow them quicker. Rear Facing Car Seat Safety and Car Seat Advice U.K. have both been excellent sources of info for me if you’re on Facebook.

99th centile. I've looked into height/ weight limits but as these are stage 1/2/3 I'm not sure what you think the issue might be? There's no further stage to move on to!

Most group 123 seats you can only use the harness up to 18kg, the Fortifi is the same in that respect. The Joie Bold is unusual in harnessing up to 25kg.

There are other 25kg harness options but most of them are from cheap no-brand type makes (BabyAuto Dupla Isofix is probably the next-best option) so the Bold is probably the best bet if you want to keep him harnessed, unless you want to look into a rear facing seat? There are several rear facing options up to 25kg but appreciate you might not want to go back to rear facing at this stage.

Aside from all that I wouldn't really want to go for the Fortifi anyway, as it looks like a Joie Every Stage with no rear facing option and the Every Stage didn't do well forward facing on the Which crash test.

Thanks, Bertie.

I realise this thread is from a few months back, I'm just wondering what you went for in the end? I'm comparing them both too X
