When putting a Child (5 years old) into her car seat in the back of the car, does it matter if you plug the belt into the middle seat plug? (The one right next to it)

Is it still safe?

(For context, the correct plug is awkward to get to because if the size of the seat, and I am happy to struggle but DH says it's fine to put it into the middle one)

I think you need to google the installation advice for your particular car seat or contact the manufacturer.

I have a feeling ours said you must use the correct one.

I think if you've got what is called buckle crunch then the seat is not safe to use. I don't think it's safe to use the middle plug and I'm sure in most cars I've been in you cans even click it into the wrong one.

If your plugging in the middle 'holder' Is the release button still facing out and easy to access? That would be my only concern in an emergency can you get your child out quickly?

Is it even possible?

I thought it had been standard for years for the middle seat belt holder to be different from the other two, and only the middle belt fits it (they just pop out if you try to put the wrong one in)

Can you just fix the seat in place, then leave it is the car, so you don't need to be wielding the car seat belts every time?

Or is it the sort where the car belt holds both seat and occupant?

Thanks everyone.

The seatbelt doesn't hold the seat in place. It is being used as an actual seatbelt.

The buckle does fit into the middle plug. The car is 2018 Ford Kuga , so not old.

It's really hard to find this information.

Ask Ford - they will probably know.

I suspect it doesn't make that much difference, but I don't know what the real answer is, and would probably avoid it if not sure.

Is the seat isofixed in place? The isofix is optional on those kinds of seats, so you could just not connect that in and move the base over slightly so that it's not covering the seatbelt latch.

Plug not latch.

Thank you! It is isofix and I do want to keep it in that if possible. I will ask Ford
