Cybex Sirona S2 - good option?

It's been super painful trying to find information on the Cybex Sirona S2 or SX2, but as far as I can tell it's the same as the Sirona Z, apart from being permanently attached to the base? I only have one car so once the car seat is in, it's in. Therefore, for an almost 50% reduction in cost (compared to the Sirona Z plus base) it seems like this would be my best option. I can't find any threads on this car seat though, or anyone saying they like or hate it. Can anyone tell me about their experience with this car seat? Is it a good choice or is there anything I should be wary of?

Just to add that I already have a newborn car seat that fits onto my travel system, from my last baby. So I would be using the Sirona S2 from a few months old until as close to 4 years old as possible. I'm keen to keep my baby rear facing through to 4, but I have a small car so I'd like something more compact than the ERF through to 25kg options.

Thanks!

Is baby born yet? If not, it could be worth waiting to see what centile they're on before buying. DS hit 17.7kg/18kg in clothes at 16 months and outgrew the Joie seat we had.

Ironically, the Axkid Minikid takes up less space than a Joie 360 in my car. I much prefer it.

I don't think all 25kg seats are as bulky as they seem or at least on par with the 18kg seats.

Thanks, but I'm pretty short, and my older daughter hasn't been particularly tall at any stage in her growth either. I'm not expecting my second daughter to be particularly tall either.

I'm hoping to keep an eye out for Black Friday sales ideally. I still have my old ERF to 25kg car seat, but I have a smaller car now, and to be honest I always hated that bulky old thing anyway, so I'm looking forward to replacing it. Especially for something that swivels - since I have existing back issues.

I'll check out the dimensions of the Axkid, to make sure the Sirona S2 isn't bigger though. It would still be amazing to hear from anyone who's actually used the Sirona S2, I can't seem to find much online.

I was thinking of the sirona sx2 like you I could find very information.
Decided to the Joie ispin safe in the end as it passed the plus test which the Sirona doesn't.

The 25kg seats take up way less space than the spinning seats, they are huge. Which Axkid seat do you have, and were you fitting it in compact position or extended leg room (and/or recline)?

The dimensions are not that helpful as they tend to measure the seat when it's sat flat and sometimes when it's forward facing so it doesn't give you a very good idea of how much space it takes up in the car.

The Sirona is OK, good crash test results but not the best recline, tricky to adjust the headrest when the child is in the seat and it has a very short shell, so it won't last until the advertised 105cm (I don't know if this is better with the S2 compared to the Sirona S). I also find the mechanism to release the spin is a bit of a pain although you get used to it fairly quickly. If your child is likely to be short and it fits in your car it may be a good option.

Joie spin seats are the most compact ones. They are also stocked almost everywhere so you could always fit the Axkid on one side of the car, drive to a stockist, ask to try the Joie (and/or Cybex) fitted on the other side and compare?

The 5 point harness is nicer to use on the Cybex than the Joie and it doesn't have so many confusing inserts. The Joie seats are also notorious for having very little leg room for the child rear facing (that's how they save space).

You might also want to compare with Britax Dualfix. 2R is the budget version and the i-size is the newer one. I prefer the Britax spin seats as I think they are the nicest to use but they do take up a bit more space than the Joie one.

I use the cybex sirona S and really rate it. I’m looking at getting the same or similar for my husbands car we like it so much. We used it from about 5 months and my 11 month old is very happy in it. We tried when she was only about 5 weeks but felt she was too small but I see they have brought out an insert for later models.
But equally can’t find what the difference between the S2 and S2X. There must be a slight difference but I can’t spot it.

Cybex are buggers for this.

Both are without the newborn insert.

S2 has "energy reduction technology" while SX2 has "advanced linear side impact system"

In English, the little side impact thing on the SX2 pops out automatically whereas on the S2 you have to do it manually.

The SX2 one also looks the same as on the S whereas S2 may be a pared-down version.
