Silver Cross all motion or joie 360

Our little one is 7 weeks old but we are starting to look at car seat options, she is currently in an infant carrier. I've heard the axkid seats are the best but they seem to take up a lot of room and I like the idea of the 360 swivel seats tbh. I was going to go with the joie 360 but as she is on the 75th centile it's likely she will grow out of it too soon. Has anyone tried the new silver Cross that is designed for 0-12? Or if anyone has any suggestions, it's a minefield!!

Just starting to think about the next seat for my DS. These are my 2 shortlisted, which one did you go for?

Ive had the Britax Dualfix for both of mine. Love it.

  • Larger age ranges don’t tend to be great as they are trying to do too much at once and you don’t get a great fit at any age.
  • The joie ispin (‘i’ specifically) is a great seat as it is Swedish plus tested which is one of the hardest tests for a seat to pass. The nuna norr is similar (what I have!) but more expensive and technically does the same.
  • Any of the isofix spin seats will ‘only’ go up to 18kg rear facing before your child outgrows them or they have to be turned around (note: any seat that has passed the Swedish plus test will not have a forward facing option). This will be approximately when a child is 4, but if your child is on a higher centile then it will be before then.
  • The issue you can run into with a seat that only goes to 18kg rear facing is that your child won’t be ready to go into a booster seat with just a seat belt whilst they are still younger than 4, which means buying a seat which rear faces up to 25kg (such as an axkid). Once they outgrow that, they will be ready for a booster seat.
  • if your baby is in an infant carrier, it’s highly unlikely they will outgrow it before a year unless they are very high on the centiles. This means you might only get a couple of years use in the spin seat before having to buy a THIRD seat before they can go in a booster. If you buy an upto 25kg seat (only belted and non-spinning) it’s only one seat between infant carrier and booster.

Good luck, it’s a mine field!

At 7 weeks old it's not really possible to say how soon she will grow out of the car seat. My daughter was 25th centile at that age but ended up on the 75th from 5ish months onwards. She still was able to rear face in the joie 360 until age 4.

I wouldn't go near anything that tried to cover 12 whole years of a child's life tbh although I'm not familiar with that particular one.

As PP have hinted as you've potentially got a year before you will be in need of a new seat I'd probably sit tight a bit and see what's on the market and what cars/routine you're using before splashing out on something too soon.

@Badromancer - sorry don’t know much, if anything, about hbb as my eldest is only 2!
Most of what I know is from Facebook rear facing groups though. So if you’re on fb I’d advise searching for an ‘erf’ group and they can probably tell you which ones are good!

It’s only the spin safe and I-spin safe that are Swedish plus tested, the regular spin (360) and i-spin can forward face and therefore are not Swedish plus tested.
