Isofix base feels loose?

Hi we've bought a maxi cosi pebble Pro and the familyfix 2 base. Been practicing installing it all today. Fitted the base to the isofix points exactly as per instructions, everything is green as it should be. The base seems very secure and doesn't budge if you try to move it forwards and backwards but it does seem to move side to side a fair bit, maybe up to an inch? Is this normal? We've checked all the instructions and watched numerous videos/googled but seen nothing relevant to answer this question about from a dubious forum post somewhere a few years ago saying its to help with impact.

That sounds pretty normal. There's always a bit of sideways movement as the isofix bars are wider than the bits that clip on. Make sure the base is pushed back into the seat as this should give it a bit more stability.

You need to push it back again into the seat.

Get it to the point you think it's 'secure' and then push back again on either side until you hear another click

That is fine.

If you look at how the clamps are attached the clamp part has a small amount of play so by the time you get to wiggling the other end it translates to quite a few cm.

I’m assuming all connection pints are green indicating fixed?

Just as a point regarding the 'green' lights, these do not indicate the isofix is as secure as possible, they simply mean it's connected. A good push back on either side should secure it properly

Back and forth is the key, wobbling side to side is normal. It won't be 100% immovable.

BertieBotts · 27/06/2021 09:36

Completely normal as the isofix bars are like little square brackets, the hooks are narrower than the squares, so it will naturally move.

If you have some of those plastic square guides those can reduce the movement a bit.

BertieBotts · 27/06/2021 09:36

But the plastic guides are optional. It's not a safety issue for the seat to move.

Thanks all, I'll try pushing it back even further but otherwise it sounds like it's a normal thing!
